What is so awful about your family that you have to escape? Just wondering. Realizing that who your family is has to be one of the biggest dice rolls in life, I know that I am pretty blessed to have an awesome one. Makes me wonder what things other people actively try to avoid.

This thread is mostly jest, about 51%.

A good chunk of it is just me. I like my space, I like my quiet time, and I don't really care for some of the performative aspects of hosting. Some family members have some habits I find difficult to deal with and there is guaranteed to be at least one episode of high drama.

I wouldn't say it's awful. I just find it unnecessarily stressful.
