Like how shitty does a car have to be for them to not buy it? 1/1/2019 5:48:42 PM |

I like to go to Carmax for an offer and then just add about 30-40% to that price and ask for that higher number on craigslist 1/1/2019 6:48:17 PM |

CarMax will buy anything roadworthy. What they don't keep on their lot, they'll send to auction. You won't get much for cars sent to auction though...

My car has an ABS and a Brake light on. That's probably disqualifying. 150k miles is good to know. 1/2/2019 8:15:40 PM |

I just bought a car from them two months ago. I didn't want to trade in my car as I thought I would have to pay them to take it. Its a 1995 Ranger with over 300k miles. The odo is actually on partially functioning. Still drives just fine though. Would have been hilarious to have them do it but I didn't want to waste their/mine time. 1/3/2019 8:59:58 AM |

i brought my f250 diesel about 6 years ago and they told me they couldn't make offers on cars over 150k. was the little shop on capital. ended up selling it for double what the guy across the street who's sign said "we'll beat carmax by $500" was offering 1/3/2019 9:20:58 AM |

What's my best option for an 07 F-150 with nearly 180k miles? Private sell or trade-in?
It's a King Ranch edition and is in great shape minus a few cosmetic things here and there. I'm not really in the market for a new truck but i've kept my eyes open on the used market. Trade in is certainly easier but i feel like with that many miles it might not get much. 1/18/2019 4:08:24 PM |

You will always get more with a private sale 1/20/2019 5:58:36 PM |

My brother works at CarMax and they will literally take just about anything. Usually, the older cars just go to wholesale and are sold as is. 1/21/2019 7:40:45 PM |

I got 1300 dollars for a pontiac grand am with a slipping transmission, broken AC and no radio, and power windows that didn't work. The Lower Intake manifold might have been leaking as well.

I asked my brother. He said they will take anything that has a VIN. The lowest he has heard of a trade in was $50. So they will literally take everything unless it doesn't have a VIN. 2/7/2019 7:14:17 PM |
