Whenever I start getting cold. I’m not the type of person that refuses to turn the heat on until December or refuses to turn the air on until May. If it’s 80+ in February, then I’ll turn the air on. It’s not like I can’t just switch to heat when it drops to 40 later in Feb.
I guess my baseline is essentially...whenever my thermostat is no longer controlling the temp. For example, right now my air is on. When I leave the house, I’ll set the temp to like 78-79. If it’s so cool outside that I when I get home, the house is 68, for example, then I’ll consider turning the heat on. My house’s temp needs to be maintained at 70-73 degrees for us to sleep and be comfortable. If I need to turn the heat (or air) on to accomplish that then I will. I guess that’s how I determine when to turn one on. 9/20/2019 6:25:53 AM |

I can be pretty comfortable until the house consistently hovers around the 65 mark. Flip side of that is that the AC gets flipped on the moment we go over like 72 9/23/2019 8:17:57 AM |

Standard procedure (with no wood stove) is for heat on ~ 63/64 inside; AC on at 75. May run AC down to drop the humidity if house gets stuffy; run heat up a bit for guests. 9/23/2019 7:14:40 PM |
