Is it? The problem with the remake was that it tried to lean too hard into the comedy aspects. The original, while funny, wasn't really billed as a comedy, hell look at the trailer.

To be fair, we still do not know to what extent the original crew will be utilized. They may actually end up bringing the funny, and the teaser is just a little misdirection.

Some reviews of the trailer have gone as far as calling it (and the folks who didn't see the 2016 movie) misogynists.

I'm pretty picky, but I think this trailer looks entertaining enough. Decent cast and a family connection that means just enough nostalgia will be in the film but the entire thing won't be centered on it.

I liked it, now I don't see what it offers to people who haven't seen the first two movies, but I think fans will enjoy it. Seems to be a few inside jokes and lines for the fans of the earlier movies.

I did like that while the original cast was there, they didn't show up until the final act to let the new characters develop. And the reaction to seeing Egon show up was priceless.

He was a CGI ghost that didn't speak. And his intervention turned the tide in the final battle with Gozer.

Obviously his family allowed his likeness to be used, which I think was great.

as a huge Ghostbusters fan, i thought it was fantastic. Definitely a nostalgia ride, but honestly that's all i wanted. Hit some great notes, had a story that stood fine on it's own, and left me feeling happy to see it all together again.

It was okay. I thought the plot and everything was fine, but, like Coming2America, something just doesn't seem as expansive in the internal world they built so that the new movie just feels... smaller?

It's clearly begging for a sequel, which I'd probably watch.

Also I saw that main girl in non-nerd mode and she looks just damn like Sally Draper.

I know it has been almost 40 years since the events of the first Ghostbusters, but I would think that the very public reveal that ghosts are real and there is a Sumerian god out there wanting to come back from the astral plane would, you know, have some lasting effects on society.

Looks like people just watched the news and went "Oh, ok, so that happened." Then forgot all about it.

I enjoyed it though. Stranger Things: Ghostbusters gets a B+ from me.
