^^ Really even though he’s not running? What if Bloomberg wins by 1 vote 2/15/2020 1:24:17 AM |

I thought the question was who is not voting for Bernie? Has nothing to do with other candidates.
If Bloomberg wins, that's not my fault. My obligation is to vote for who I think is the best candidate. I won't vote for a candidate who didn't earn my vote. And I certainly won't be bullied or guilt-tripped into voting for somebody who didn't earn my vote
The only candidates who are in the realm of possibility for me are Warren and Yang. Neither of whom I feel have enough support at this point to become nominee. So be it.

I will not be voting Bernie in the primaries. If he wins the nomination, we'll see what options are available. 2/15/2020 10:43:58 AM |

same.
BUT. I'd vote for Bernie. Just because he has enough personality that he could play himself better on SNL than any other comedian could do justice for.2/15/2020 11:02:38 AM |

I'm voting Pete but will vote for the eventual nominee, regardless of who it is (assuming it is someone in the top 5) 2/15/2020 5:11:33 PM |

Playing the lotto, much like supporting a capitalist whose answer to structural social issues is a token distribution of capital, is a sucker's game in my opinion.
Actually, playing the lotto might be smarter, because it isn't the act of accelerationist. Play 20-4-10-11-20-37 in Mega Millions. 2/17/2020 9:21:06 AM |

I had a very vivid dream last night where I voted in the primary, and I voted for Sanders, but I immediately regretted it because of his age. It seemed (in my dream) like a travesty that our top candidates are all almost 80, and younger people (pete/harris/klobuchar) aren't being allowed to take the torch. It was almost like the fact no one sees or respects the talent and experience and viewpoints of younger people was itself the failure of the society created by the previous generations.
But it's also sad the younger people in the race aren't trying to create a movement for transformational positive change like Sanders is doing.
I might almost just vote for Pete out of spite now, since i'm going to go 110% for whoever the nominee is anyway... 2/17/2020 11:49:22 AM |

Why would you not vote for the candidate with (by far) the best policies? I understand wanting someone younger - I wish we had that option as well. But if it's an old left-winger vs. a young center-righter, how is that a difficult choice? 2/17/2020 12:12:15 PM |

Frosh - who here said they're not going to vote? i've said multiple times i will vote for whoever the Dem nominee is. i may hold my nose and do it in most cases just like I did for Hillary in 2016, but I will 100% vote to disempower the GOP in 2020. I've also noted on multiple occasions that Warren is my 2nd/3rd choice, so if publicly available information is the tea leaves you're so proud of yourself for reading, then cool.
Yang never said that the Freedom Dividend is the answer to all structural social problems, in fact he's rejected that misinterpretation of his platform multiple times. but those structural social problems are in part a byproduct of our natural scarcity mindset, and are easily inflamed by economic insecurity. it's a good starting point and will have the most impact in the shortest amount of time.
And yes, I say we do accelerate our society and economy. time only moves in one direction. and if we can leverage the technological progress we have achieved to provide more income to all people, why shouldn't we do it? Universal Basic Income is the social safety net we should have created in the first place.
You call the Freedom Dividend a token, but millions of Americans lives would be dramatically improved by that token. You think the capital holders have too much power? You're right. Money is power. Putting money in our hands is putting power in our hands.
The Freedom Dividend would result in - the share of disposable income held by the top 1% would decrease by 24% - the share held by the top 0.1% would decrease by 29% - the Gini coefficient would decline by 15%
