American, Australian, or original Japanese?
Too cheap for it to be Japanese; that sells for around $80-100/lb.
And what grade? I have some Japanese A4 Wagyu in the freezer that I got for my birthday. Highest grade is A5.
Australian highest grade is M8 I believe. Don't know how American Wagyu is graded.

"oo cheap for American Wagyu beef. Description only says from Grass Fed beef, doesn't say from Waygu cattle! I think it's not really Wagyu. Shop online for the real stuff"
I share this concern but bought one anyway 4/13/2020 9:51:02 AM

true wagyu or not, check out that marbling. i'd certainly wait for it to go bad and then buy it cheap and feed it to my tigers. 4/13/2020 10:37:29 AM

Description says nothing about grass-fed, and there is a non-trivial amount of wagyu cattle and even more wagyu crosses in the US. Wagyu isn't actually a breed, it just means Japanese cattle. There are multiple breeds marketed as wagyu. Kobe beef is actually from one specific breed of cattle raised only in one area of Japan (very similar to champagne/sparkling wine, all kobe beef is wagyu, but not all wagyu is kobe.) Kobe beef is insanely expensive because supply is so limited - there are only a few thousand total head in that area.
Japanese wagyu is most definitely not grass-fed. Most cattle there are in total confinement, because there is a distinct lack of grazing land in Japan. Grass-fed/finished beef will always have less marbling than grain finished, simply because of the way cattle deposit fat and the lower energy of a grass diet.
Also, you couldn't pay me to buy meat online and not in person.] 4/13/2020 10:49:46 AM

It probably came that way.
Why are you assuming fresh? 4/13/2020 11:37:15 AM

Well, I hate paying $20/lb for filets...if I'm going to spend that much money on meat, I would just assume it is fresh. Didn't realize there was the option of buying that kind of meat frozen. The only kind of frozen beef I'm used to are like those salesmen that go door to door selling 150 lbs of various cuts for discounted rates. 4/13/2020 12:41:02 PM
