Real Italians, not the fake American ones, will legit lose their shit over things like putting pineapple on a pizza, using any type of cream for carbonara, or milk in a caffeinated beverage after 11 AM.

I have a time or two. It's pretty tasty. Having not had Chicago-style before that I can't give a good comparison, but the quality of their ingredients is good. Also because they're so dense those slices go much further than a typical pizza...so follow their guidelines for how many people their pizzas should feed.


Lists should include whether places are open during the 'ronas, because I know that Peri Bros is closed right now.

New York Style - Oakwood, Piccola Italia and my new local Namolis in Apex

Neopolitan - Pompieri, Poolside Pies (though less of a true neopolitan)

Roman - Coronato (Carrboro)

Greek/New England - Milton’s

Detroit - Trophy on Monday’s (they need to make this permanent)

Is there any place local that does real Chicago style? The tavern style cross cuts?

You select the toppings (like at Subway), and they make it. $8 for 2 or more toppings (other than sauce and cheese). I used to get 8-10 toppings. They have:

2 crusts
4 sauces
5 cheeses
6 meats
8 veggies
6-8 finishers (after it is made)

And they bake it in front of you in a giant wood-fired oven that reaches 600 degrees. Takes < 5 minutes.

(Don't know how they turned a profit with several premium ingredients available and the pricing structure of $6 for plain cheese, $7 for one topping, $8 for >=2 toppings)
