I don't think he hired anyone.

I think Paul killed his mother. Paul was a screwup and the black sheep and he was mad about the housekeeper/nanny that "accidentally" fell and died on property. His mom was going to ruin the family and his lifestyle.


Buster or Alex found out and shot and killed Paul. There were 2 different guns used so more than likely 2 killers. I think it was Buster but Alex was going down for financial crimes so he took the fall on the murders.
