Quote : | "Amazon has provided Ring doorbell footage to law enforcement 11 times this year without the user’s permission..." |
Quote : | "Ring has said before it will not share customer information with police without consent, a warrant or due to “an exigent or emergency” circumstance. The 11 videos shared this year fell under the emergency provision, Amazon’s letter said, the first time the company publicly shared such information. The letter, dated July 1, did not say which videos were shared with police." |
Quote : | "Amazon said in its letter 2,161 law enforcement agencies are enrolled in Ring’s Neighbors app, a forum for residents to share suspicious videos captured by their home security cameras. That number represents a five-fold increase since November 2019, according to the senator’s office." |
"Neighbors App"... snitch central, my gosh

Quote : | "The police said they were conducting a drug-related investigation on a neighbor, and they wanted videos of “suspicious activity” between 5 and 7 p.m. one night in October. Larkin cooperated, and sent clips of a car that drove by his Ring camera more than 12 times in that time frame.
He thought that was all the police would need. Instead, it was just the beginning.
They asked for more footage, now from the entire day’s worth of records. And a week later, Larkin received a notice from Ring itself: The company had received a warrant, signed by a local judge. The notice informed him it was obligated to send footage from more than 20 cameras — whether or not Larkin was willing to share it himself." |
Ring users can upload and post clips in an app, like a virtual neighborhood watch. | Mike Householder/AP Photo6/28/2023 6:08:03 PM |

I know nobody cares about me walking around the neighborhood, but I still don't like the idea of my likeness being recorded just from walking my dog around the neighborhood. I don't have any Ring cameras, so I don't know how far away they can effectively record, but the idea of it bothers me. 6/29/2023 11:05:09 AM |

They don't have to record you. They just have to be in wireless range of your phone to know you were there. 6/29/2023 4:29:59 PM |

More than ever, there's just no privacy in general.
You get recorded once doing something wrong, saying something wrong, you'll not be forgiven. Unless you're a politician people support cause they hate the other side. 7/2/2023 11:58:07 PM |
