You ever go to text someone and they have purple letters under the last text that says they have silenced notifications? Seems like kind of a doucher move

Yes, I have an iPhone. A screen shot would be helpful to properly judge the douchers.

But I mainly text with family and work contacts.

I think it might be a mental health thing, so someone isn't in anguish that they weren't responded to etc. i'm sure it can be disabled. Some of them can send an auto reply like "i am driving, ..." etc

Had a boss one time that would print out all their read receipts and bring them to meetings on the off chance someone said they dont remember something from a dense email so he could throw it in their face

Sounds like a very stable and environmentally responsible thing to do.

OK, I'll give you that one. Although it also has a screen and is not a conventional flip phone.

You should buy and build this kit phone:

My phone invertedly started doing this setting off a reaction from my contacts informing me of my douchbaggery. It was triggered when I opened the health app and it asked me questions about my bedtime and wake up time. I must have selected something to say this was inactive time for me so it started doing this. I had no problem with this until the notification stopped turning itself off at wake up time unbeknownst to me so all of my clients/friends got this notification 24/7.

Now, my GF always complained about people waking her up with texts (me included) so I told her about this feature and she manually turns it on during her sleep time to stop the beeping. I think if you text the person or call the person twice it will force notify them even if it's silenced. Not sure.

TLR - Apple glitch may be creating a false sense of douchbaggery from your contacts. Or they may just have times they need to silence non emergency calls/texts but want to keep their other sounds on. Or they may be just douchbags.
