I never knew Travis personally, but he was so ubiquitous here and in the younger lives of so many of you, its still a hit to the system.

Damn I met Travis a few times back in 2001 I think. Gave him a computer case and helped him start to build it if I remember right. Feel bad now about my first post as I assumed this was the fourth or fifth troll post about RIP Jackleg.

And to the others wondering about if we are old enough for shit like this, hell yeah we are. We haven't lost a ton from my HS class, but there are several people I hung out with in HS that are gone now. OD's and vehicular accidents mostly, but a couple have had random medical issues. Recently learned another HS classmate has multi-organ cancer and even after a couple of surgeries she probably doesn't have much time left.

In a given year, for the next five years there is a 3% chance each year one of us dies. Assuming there are 10 regular posters it's 14% chance between now and 5 years from now at least one of us dies. By sixty years old it's 91% chance at least one of us dies.

Assumptions: slightly higher than average death rate (300 in 100k) since we skew male. Assuming we are about 42 on average.

When I die, no one will tell you, because I don't have any friends (that still post here). But that's fine. I will just stop posting, and eventually someone might remember me and assume I'm dead and be correct.

Even though jackleg locked my most successful thread at its peak because of his personal animus towards the police, I forgave him, and I certainly didn't want him to die. I often wondered why he stopped posting (mostly).

Holy fucking shit. Only met the dude IRL one time but enjoyed his banter on TWW for over two decades at this point. Dude will always be a legend here. Hope his family and close friends can take some mild comfort in the positive impact he had on the regulars that still hang around this old folks home of a message board.
