Not really gazing, but I've caught the ISS a few times. Only in the sky for a few minutes, looks like a fast moving star

I was in the mountains back in the spring, gazing at the sky. Then I noticed a bunch of lights all moving in the same direction, maybe a couple dozen, and for a second I thought it might be an invasion or a bunch of missles. Then the lights started going in different directions. I yelled at my friend to come out of the house and see it, and they calmly told me it was a Starlink launch. I confirmed it the next day. But for a second I was actually a little scared.

Does one have to be outside the city so less light pollution? Also can you provide a direction? Like eastern skys, northern skys, etc?

Most of what I see are going from northwest -> east and 20-40° above horizon. I'm pretty solidly within Raleigh city limits so unless you're in a particularly bright area, should be able to see some stuff[Edited on September 3, 2025 at 8:47 PM. Reason : have seen 6 in the last 10 minutes. all overhead ]

Here's some space-themed or space-inspired full albums to space out to while looking into space:It draws from shoegaze, but I think you could easily extend to satgaze.
