We started doing this during the pandemic but have continued it. In October we watch a horror movie every night. Here's what we've seen so far.

1. Night of the Comet
2. Annabelle
3. Killer Klowns From Outer Space
4. Motel Hell

What are you watching?
What should we watch next?

Stir of echos is probably worth another watch. Not too scary though, few moments

I will check it out.

And I recommend Night of the Demons as a Halloween party movie for later in the month.

Legend has it the film was cut with deworming agent behind Cambria Suites.

Barbarian and Weapons were both amazing and new. Like Weapons the best of the two.

Drag Me to Hell was a fave back in the day.

You should watch Talk to Me if you haven't seen that, then check out Bring Her Back, which is from the same writers & directors but a much better film.

lol, we watched Sleepaway Camp last year. That ending was a doozy. I saw last night that there's a part 2 and 3.

We just watched Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2. Pretty good for a cheesy 80s teen horror movie.

oh yeah I hear that one is better than Prom Night 1

and yeah the ending of Sleepaway Camp is like... is this okay?
I mean, I know it's not supposed to be okay but... god damn that's fucked up 3 or 4 different ways

How was VHS Halloween? I’ve liked the series except for Viral. I am furloughed until Congress passes a budget, so although I am not watching a horror movie every day of October, I am doing a few here and there. Just watched the Wolf of Snow Hollow last night. Movie was pretty decent up until the ending, which ruined the entire movie.

VHS Halloween was great fun (except for one segment)
I really enjoyed it

it's pretty gross and dark, though

I'm scared to play any kind of tape tech anymore because the last 2 VHS tapes I tried were eaten by (2 separate) VCRs

also, why did every tape deck I ever owned fail, as well as pretty much all of the VHS players?

oh, because it's cheap tech, right

I'm thinking tonight might be House of the Devil. Seen that?

No...i generally don't watch horror movies. Don't see the allure of being frightened while watching something. I can get into stuff like weapons, but i don't think of that as a horror movie in the same sense as a conjuring, or other movies like that. Frankly i pretty much only enjoy documentaries and thought provoking pieces. Horror, super hero, romcoms, most action, childrens movies, etc I tend to stay away from. Even contemporary comedies kinda suck for the most part

I remember watching House of the Devil a while back when I got the DVD (ebay lot purchase). I remember being optimistic going in, but being pretty underwhelmed. But I'd be curious to know what you think. I may pull the DVD back-out.

I think it's a good homage to 80s films in the Satanic cult genre. It does a lot to build tension and then concludes in a way that is predictable but also over-the-top. It's not something I'd rewatch a lot but I'd watch it with someone who hasn't seen it. It's unique in that it doesn't pull it's punches, if you get what I'm saying.

^^ I think horror is a genre where people are still allowed to innovate. You can make a horror film and not have to earn a billion dollars to get it made.

[Edited on October 21, 2025 at 5:36 PM. Reason : horror is an expansive genre and includes all kinds of sub-genres and mashups ]
