Which do you think is coming? How are you and your family preparing?

If you think there's no conflict coming, why do you feel this way?

Neither.

The MSM always make things out to be more sensational than they really are. If you believe we're on the verge of war (regardless of scope) you're going to keep going back for updates.

Hopefully both, we need a giant reset. Probably could help with our debt problem too

Personally, I think civil war but with NATO backing one side over another.

I'm preparing by expanding my gardening hobby, focusing on my physical and mental health, completing some home security projects, further investing in my personal and community relationships, and clearing as many debts as I can.

Adding 3-4 more raised beds to the backyard. Composting EVERYTHING. Setting up a system to capture rainwater from my gutters and using it to water the garden on an automatic irrigation system.

Lifting weights daily. Focusing on losing weight to mitigate some health problems. Removing alcohol from the equation. Meditating more.

More security cameras. Reinforcing doors. Practicing defense.

Continuing to contribute to local food charities because I think food insecurity, for any reason, is the largest contributor to crime. Hungry people do desperate things.

I'm cashing in some stocks to pay down more immediate debt. It's a good move, whatever the outlook.

Wait until once of my fellow TWWers builds a bunker, and then "occupy" it while they aren't looking

I’ve been maintaining some battery backups powered by portable solar panels. I specifically bought a house near a creek for emergency water source. Picked up some Mylar sheathing a while back since you can make solar ovens very easily. Also scooped up a 500w laser— infinite ammo since it’s electric and significant stopping power depending where you aim, and can also be used to cook food if you unfocus the laser.

But if things got so bad I thought I needed this, I’d do what most of our ancestors did and move. Technically have a dual citizenship

^^^ dunno what that means

I just go to the gun range so I'm not fumbling around if I need to pick up a firearm around the house

I think a civil war is more likely to occur in the near future, but it will look so different from the one previously fought. In all seriousness, I live in the DC metro area, so I'm absolutely fucked. If anything pops off, I'm pretty sure I'll be at ground zero. Maybe I'll have a fighting chance, since I live in the suburbs and can escape to the country side fairly easily.

I'm thinking my home will have to be my fortress. I have the property surveilled with cameras, and there are only two entrances. I go to the gun range a few times a month to keep my skills sharp with the rifle and the handgun; and I have plenty of ammo. There is a pretty substantial forest behind my neighborhood, so I think there is an unlimited supply of timber for fuel, and deer for food.
House has gas for heating, and cooking; and should that fail, I can cook outside on the charcoal grill.
I bet I could set up some sort of system to catch rain water off of the house. There are also a few freshwater streams nearby, where I could collect and sanitize water.
I keep myself in pretty decent shape by lifting / running / biking.
I have some camping gear, should I need it.
I have space to do gardening, though nothing in place to do anything to sustain a family. I likely would need to travel several miles away to local farms to barter for goods. Luckily, I have an award winning penis which I am willing to slang for goods.

But largely, I am not prepared to endure any long term survival challenge.

Ya know, gutter-filled rain barrels are a pretty cheap home project.
And radishes are easy as hell to grow and are ready in like 35 days.

I started gardening when I decided to take the doomsday out of the prepping and call it a hobby.

Being outside, doing manual labor, and touching dirt all has a positive effect on my wellbeing.

Assuming shit really pops off, if you don't have a network of people to support you, the number of rain barrels, guns, ammo, and MREs you stash is not going to matter. You need support or someone with even more guns, ammo, and MREs will come take yours. I have tried to prepare by moving closer to family and being in areas that are not as divided politically. As the poet Winston Zedmor said, "As long as there is a steady paycheck, i'll believe whatever you want." My strategy is not to get shot in the face by a purple hair septum piercing sociology major OR a mouth breathing flannel shirt dude with "DONT TREAD ON ME" sticker on his F150.

Now that I'm moving back to NC and you fuckers are solidly purple I'm slightly more concerned, but I will have a much larger network of family for protection.

I generally agree with this. I think there will be some strife, but more the chafing from dry humping and not a full blown OHH OHH of a civil war. I'd put a true civil war at like 10% and some kind of short term strife at 90%. Where the short term strife is like the systematic killing of more lesbians in Minnesota coupled with tit for tat ICE agents getting shot spreading out to some of the hot bed areas.

If a civil war breaks out in my backyard, I'm okay with dying. I'm not going to constantly defend myself against people that want what I have. Then the whole area will be a shit show if I survive. Being in heaven with Jesus sounds better to me!

This is a most excellent point. Community and cooperation is why humanity has succeeded to the extent it has.

I do have this network. All of my immediate family lives in the Triangle. I also have connections with friends and their families in more rural areas nearby (including an ER doc and a nurse who are both veterans). And I have a large network of people who I have been doing self-reliance outdoor-based multi-day (max so far is 11 days) events off-grid. We offroad, camp, fish, shoot, set up generators and solar, organize teams of people, communicate on radio networks we set up. I know how to run a mess kitchen for 100+ people, including sanitation concerns. With my current set up I believe I could set up a commissary to feed several hundred people somewhat continuously.
