Ok ok sure, I’ve been trying to reach you about your extended car warranty.

Now that that is out of the way, has anyone actually purchased an aftermarket car warranty? I have a 2015 Silverado, and a 2018 GMC Yukon. Unbeknownst to us at the times of purchase, we didn’t realize how bad the lifter problem is for those engines. As such, we’d be looking at about a 7500 fix.

Thinking an extended warranty might be worth it here, at least for the Yukon which is still a daily driver and trip taker.

Anyone?

just delete that AFM/DOD or whatever. It's like pulling eye teeth to get those bastards to actually pay out.

I was close to purchasing a used 2021 Yukon XL with around 90,000 miles on it. Luckily, I took it to my mechanic for a walkaround. His advice was to do the delete ASAP or not purchase. He quoted the delete at around $300. I did not purchase the Yukon.

Also, fuck Randy Marion!! I asked you your opinion on AFM and you pledged ignorance. You sell Chrysler products. You know what MDS is. Fuck you!!

Best advice: Sell your Silverado and Yukon ASAP. Shop around and buy something from the GMT800 platform.

Any extended warranty that isn't either purchased from the manufacturer or the dealership is usually a ripoff to both the consumer and the mechanic shop that (might) cover the repairs.

$300 won't get you an AFM hardware delete, only disabling it in the software. With the miles that are probably on a 2015 and 2018, probably gonna want to actually get those lifters and cam out of there.

Or, like you said, ditch those pieces of shit and join the GMT800 gang. They are the peak of pickup trucks in the US.
