that is such a hot bike
is that black frame the stock color, or did the previous owner paint it?

also, that exhaust is rusty as hell man

it's not rust, all exhaust piping starts to look like that if it's not thermally coated. Also the previous owner painted it, it used to be silver.

nah but it should be fun. it's a v-twin, it's compact, got wide bars, and it looks and sounds badass. you won't get the power or wind protection a japanese inline four and i believe the service intervals are very short, meaning you sill have to shell out some cash on maintanace, but i still like it. it is in fact a number two bike on my most wated list.

the dude that works at the blue flame tatoo got one and someone else parks one by harrleson all the time.

Skills test is easy. You drive around some cones. At one point I had to stall my bike, then restart it while it was still rolling. Cake.

i think i might go pick up an '05 ZX-6R when i get both of my cars sold.

Gameplan:

1. Sell Jeep
2. Buy supercharged S2000
3. Sell turbo Miata
4. Buy ZX-6R

steps 1 & 3 are interchangeable, but that's the order i foresee them going in.

was leaning towards an R1, but then i found out that they're getting rid of the stupid "forbidden activities list" during flight school, so i'll be able to do trackdays/riding schools. therefore, i think i'll be much happier with a 600-class bike...with an ECU flash, exhaust, and set of cams, it oughta be very close to my old GSX-R 750, anyway.

i can't find a damn thing i want... i've had cash in hand for about 2.5 months now. i was planning to snag something on the cheap before the weather warmed up like i did last year (thanks bcsawyer) and the year before but the pickins have been slim. i want something mechanically sound (or close) but beat to hell cosmetically. everything is either too nice and overpriced, or more beat than i want requiring a fair amount of work to even be streetable. i think i'm going to suck it up one weekend in may and ride to the place in sc that has the huge inventory of salvage/repairable bikes. one of you newbies lay your junk down, get scared, and sell cheap

not saying the 600 isn't awesome, could have gotten that 500 for like 1/2 the cost of the cbr. Well atleast I got it cheap, in running condition, and It's only been laid down a few times when stopped. Nothing major. I'll have to get the bike serviced soon as the manual says to replace the air filter and inspect the curb idle speed, brakes, brake fluid, and carbs. The previous owner just did an oil change like a few months ago. He got 2 oil changes per year even if he didnt ride it much.

you'll be a better rider 2 years from now from starting on that 500.

i'm looking at getting my fourth motorcycle (3rd race-replica type sportbike), and i'm planning on moving back down to a middleweight bike.

eh, you're still the best 636 rider i've seen

the only other guy i've ridden with who had a 636 planted it in creek or some shit because he was trying to keep pace with r1pimpin and me, back in our fast days.

and the salesman who sold me my GSX-R told me about some dumbass who'd bought a 636 a couple days earler...he rode it down the ramp out of the service bay, got about halfway across the parking lot...then stood a wheelie up and looped it! hahahaha...totalled his brand new bike after riding it for 100 yards, and never even got it to the road!

i'd buy yours, but i want the underseat exhaust and the slipper clutch. i could retrofit yours with a slipper clutch from a ZX-6RR, and i might could get an underseat exhaust to work, but i don't feel like fucking with it. they have a good financing offer going right now, so i'll just get a new one.

yep...looks sharp, and it's one less thing to trash when you wreck...or at least it increases the odds of the exhaust surviving.

and there's no chance of dragging the can on the ground in a hard right hander (i've never actually pushed THAT hard...you've gotta be gettin' some to drag the can. i've ground my pegs into the asphalt pretty thoroughly, and never touched the can down--and i mean on the GSX-R, which had very high-set pegs. dragging YZF pegs was pretty easy.)

it makes so much more sense to route it out that way anyhow

I mean, it's less heat by your foot, easier on a passenger, and you can't drag it

on the current race-reps (both RRs), yeah. F4i is still on the side, i think...and i assume you're not counting stuff like the 919 in the "sport" category.
