New Avengers #22 was the best Civil War anything I've read yet. You know, just sayin'...

So is Civil War worth catching up on when it comes out in trade? I've not read shit in a year or so.

Good stuff:

The main story is pretty okay. It's clear that Millar gets some characters more than others. Still, it's a really fun read.

The Frontline series by Jenkins is good reading.

JMS' Amazing Spider-Man stuff is pretty must-read to understand why Spider-Man does the things he does in this story.

The Wolverine tie-ins were pretty good, but after the last issue things got a brand new kind of interesting.

Jury's still out:

The Young Avengers/Runaways story is getting all kinds of praise. I can't get into either group, in spite of how many times I'm told I should like them. So I'm skipping this one, but most of the other fan boys love it, so it may be worth your time.

The X-Men story has potential, but I'm not willing to call it a home run just yet. Especailly after the way Hine dropped the ball with The 198.

As good as New Avengers 22 was, New Avengers 21 was just plain bad. Tie-breaker will be 23.

Avoid at all costs:

The Fantastic Four tie-ins that JMS is writing are just awful, terrible reading. It's enough that I'll probably end up dropping the title altogether.

Cable/Deadpool tie-ins are also just plain bad.

[Edited on August 4, 2006 at 10:18 AM. Reason : Iron Man doesn't get any tie-ins because it took too long for the Ellis-written arc to come out.]

Anyone know of any good, private torrent sites with scans and could you PM me with any info? I only buy trades that I've already read and enjoyed, and since I haven't been torrenting anything I haven't been buying shit.

And don't give me shit. I went 6 years without making a single purchase until comic scan torrents popped up a couple years ago.

Damn Ultimates... come out with the new issue already.

Civil War frontline #5 was kinda a disappointment. The "Embedded" and "The Accused" storylines took a dip. And I've never been a fan of the stupid "war parallels" stories/poems.

^^^ Haven't used it in months, but http://zcultfm.com/ is a really good site. You have to register and make a post in the intro's section to download from their noobs tracker, then you have to do some other crap to get into their good section, I think it might be just a minimum number of posts, but I don't remember now.

Foundation's Edge is a good gaming store, but Capitol Comics down the road across from Nice Price is a better comic shop.

Got my New Avengers #23 and Astonishing X-men #16 in the mail this weekend.

After a craptacular 10 months of NA they finally gave me something to read the past 3 issues. I like the Spiderwoman stuff in this issue.

Astonishing X-Men was kind of jilted but I still liked it ok. Wolverine being a fairy is going on a little too long in this arc.

You have to understand that Batman remembers space as a lonely place, just like him. His secret plan is to eliminate everyone chillin' up in space, including the JLA. He wants to look up at night and know no one is there.

And after that he will stay out of space, cause yes, he has no business in outer space. Detective is owning the shit out of JLA right now anyways.

What other trades would be worth purchasing that go along with the civil war event? I'm guessing maybe Spider-man, New Avengers, and F4

Who the hell takes on Galactus and Silver Surfer.

I hate it when a universe is like "these are the baddest dudes in the universe"

"BUT WAIT, THESE DUDES ARE EVEN BADDER!!"

reminds me of Dragon Ball Z/GT

I may have to pick up Annihiliation later. Worth a read.

The Civil War books are getting boring. Really prediticable stuff.

The Xmen Civil War stuff isnt bad though. Its definatelly got enough reading in it. I wonder how Cyclops' überpower fits in with the Astonishing arc.

I also picked up Union Jack. I like it, pretty decent for a fringe character.

I guess after the first CW book, it was all downhill. This last one felt like a "Youngblood" book. Fourbazillion panels of action and one line of dialogue. I personally want to see Cap put his fist through Iron Mans chest and rip out his heart. Hahah
