he probably thinks Jake did it all, and i'm sure jake has/had a plan concoted about NewBern doing it but as you could see thru the previews, he wasn't given the opportunity to convey that.
I just don't see how they are going to save the country in 2 episodes 3/12/2008 1:36:36 PM |

yeah this mini season was almost written more for the fans than it was for the network/ratings.
It is supposed to give us a clear definitive answer and conclusion to the lives of those in Jericho 3/12/2008 3:39:00 PM |

Yeah, the ratings are under 6 million now, which is 2 or 3 million less than the ratings were at the end of season 1 when it got cancelled the first time. I'll be hopeful but at the same time I'm not expecting it to come back. Which sucks because it is so friggin awesome. 3/12/2008 5:13:59 PM |

It boggles my mind that a show like this is having the problems staying on the air, when fucking According To Jim keeps getting picked up season after season despite its shitty ratings. 3/12/2008 11:57:30 PM |

^the heads at abc said it themselves earlier last week. The only reason they renew According to Jim is b/c it's of the fact that its already in heavy syndication and those networks who are showing reruns are bound by contract to purchase rights to each new season. It's a cash cow for abc, even if it is a shitty show. 3/13/2008 6:54:15 AM |

In addition to the prior post, According to Jim is cheap to produce and write, whereas Jericho takes money.
This is one of the few good things on tv now.

As I said before. "Lets renew a total shit show like Accoring To Jim, and cancel somthing great and original like Jericho"
According to Jim is just such a great show, as is "The New Adventures Of Old Chrsistine" I am surprised Jericho even made it this long with such top notch talent all over the networks 3/21/2008 11:12:54 PM |

well, everyone, get ready to say your goodbyes. it has been officially cancelled.
Quote : | "National upheaval caused by a nuclear assault? Easy. Nielsen ratings? Hard. Despite efforts from zealous fans to keep Jericho alive — including the now-famous peanut incident — Tuesday's episode will be its last.
"The March 25 episode... will be the series finale," CBS entertainment boss Nina Tassler says in a statement. "Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more. We thank an engaged and spirited fan base for keeping the show alive this long, and an outstanding team of producers, cast and crew that went through creative hoops to deliver a compelling, high-quality second season.... We're proud of everyone's efforts."
Two "finales" were filmed for Tuesday: one that left viewers with a cliff-hanger (in the event of a Season 3), and one that resolves things a bit more. The latter edit, now headed to your screens, will leave fans "not too happy," Skeet Ulrich confirmed in this Mitovich Mega Minute Q&A (at the 3:00 mark): " |

I never understood how this show was particularly Sci-fi-ish anyway. If they're using the sci-fi angle as a reason not to pick it up, that's stupid.3/24/2008 11:07:58 AM |

I think what he was meaning that if they show the alternate version, viewers will be upset because they know it's the end. But the actual alternate ending is very emotionally satisfying. It's very well done. We weren’t going to make something that wasn't worth ending our series with. The ending they're going to see is great. Depending on what happens with the show — we're still shopping it, talking to people about a possible other life — the original ending will probably be on the DVD." |

^What he posts clarifies that "not too happy" doesn't mean the quality of the ending, merely the finality. People "not too happy" with the original ending to the farscape series because it wasn't an ending at all. The ending that the firefly movie gave the series made a lot of people pretty sad, but not because it was either bad or extremely final- just emotionally draining. People were "not too happy" with the ending of "Angel" (yeah all 8 Angel fans) because it was shitty and tacked on. The post he adds clarifies that the alternate ending they're showing will not piss off fans by feeling slapped on, but just because it's an actual ending.
The "posts above" don't really clarify that, although that's what I hoped the quote meant- it was somewhat ambiguous.

And what happens if they show this ending, then the show gets picked up by another network? Are they just gonna tell us to ignore this last episode?

If you guys are into post-apocalyptic fiction you could always try watching Jeremiah on Netflix instant watch. The second season doesn't have quite as much steam as the first, but it's pretty damn good television. When Jericho is gone it's a good way to get your end-of-the-world fix. 3/25/2008 11:33:19 PM |

Anyone else catch good ole Marlo in fatigues?
I think they did a good job with the 2nd season. I could be satisfied if this was in fact the last episode we ever see.
And someone at CBS fucked up and ran a commercial advertising for next weeks episdoe.

Quote : | "Have Jericho fans seen the last of their show, now that CBS has aired the "alternate" ending/series-ender? Executive producer Carol Barbee, who is currently shopping the drama around to other outlets, shares a peek at the original season finale.
TVGuide.com: Will viewers have any burning questions coming out of the alternate ending/series finale? Carol Barbee: Let me see.... I can tell you that in the original ending, Hawkins has to sacrifice himself to let Jake get away with the bomb and get it to Texas so it can be tested and prove that they were telling the truth. Texas would then swing their support to Columbus and defeat Cheyenne.
TVGuide.com: Does Hawkins mortally sacrifice himself, or just let himself get captured? Barbee: Well, he gets captured but he's also shot.... He's pretty messed up, and Jake feels like he's leaving him for dead. So we show you where he's taken and you see that the mission for the next season is, "We have to go rescue Hawkins and we have to stop these [bad] guys." When they see the alternate ending, it certainly completes the story from this season and tells you everything you need to know to have understood Season 2. It just doesn't point to that next mission. You meet John Smith, the guy who's been pulling the strings. It's [played by] Xander Berkeley (24). You've heard him on phone calls, and Hawkins is surprised by who he is and where he is. So you know who John Smith is, you know who planned the attacks, you know why, you know how....
TVGuide.com: Now it's just a matter of making things right in the United States? Barbee: Right. We would have moved on to the next level of a civil war between the Cheyenne government and the Columbus government. But if your readers do have any more burning questions, let me know!
TVGuide.com: If Jericho does find a new home on another channel, will Season 3 work off the alternate ending or the original cliff-hanger edit? Barbee: What we would do is take the information that is in the original ending, and that would be the opener for the next season. When we leave them at the end of the original ending, we've got Hawkins back and he's OK, but we still need to go fight the larger fight. I've always said that the alternate ending doesn't wrap up the series. It just lets you know that everyone is OK and it closes out this seven-episode arc. But we could definitely keep it going!" |
