Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo: "Raikkonen is unique, loyal, very dedicated to his job. I will give him a prize, not in money as that is already agreed in the contract, but a gift."

what do you think he will get? another black FXX like the one that schumi got?

I bought a dvd recorder, so i am in the process of taking all the races of my dvr onto DVD; thus I get to watch all the races again. I don't have ALL of 2007 though, but still interesting. I have USGP and Canada, then Italy onwards until Brazil if anybody wants a particular race on DVD

I have been watching 1994 F1 season on veoh.com.
1 full season without schumi... been a good season, but I still miss him.

Alonso is officially gone from McLaren

no news on exactly where he will be (should be Renault)

or who is going to McLaren (should be Button)

Button still wants to pursue to win the race. He doesn't wanna be the second driver to support the first one (Hamilton), so I don't think he is joining McLaren. But he is British, too, so I am sure he can get along with the team better than Alonso..

Barichello may go to Aguri because Honda (even engineers) are not happy with his performance.

I think Kovalainen will most likely take the McLaren seat. If they both perform well they'll have a dynasty for the next few years. Assuming the MP4-23 isn't a piece of shit like the 21.

Anyone go to Montreal or Indy this year? The campground in the parking lot at Indy is nuts. I was almost branded with a knife by a Romanian because I was talking to his friend and we had to "become brothers" if we wanted to talk to them. First he tried to cut us, then the branding..fuckin crazy eurotrash. At Montreal Kubica bit the wall right in front of me; literally 50 yards or less. I got a piece of carbon from his chassis after the race. Montreal is a kick-ass city if you haven't been. The town turns into a huge party during weekend.

One more thing. At Indy I made a white flag with Super Best Friends and the Honda emblem written on it while wearing one of those Asian bamboo cone hats. I was almost certain I'd get on TV but... I had my picture taken with 12 people (mostly South Americans for some reason) and guys from Reuters, AP, and two local papers all because of the flag and the look. We did an interview with a local paper but they just quoted my brother with two sentences. Still very cool though. And we definitely pissed of some Japanese people next to us because we kept yelling "Super Aguri!!!" really loudly with that Japanese-like accent whenever Sato drove by.

The campground is where it's at, or the one I was in at least:

Camp David, where "all assholes are welcome." -- pool of motor homes. Beertopia -- another pool of motor homes. Drunken Polacy hospitality--all the polish vodka you can drink. Naked woman who was there for the campground scene and not even going to the race. She was wasted and there with her husband and just started taking off her clothes. He didn't seem to mind. German hospitality- all the sausage and other grilled meats you can eat. Then the Romanians. Everyone but the Romanians are quite friendly. You can just walk up to anyone's spot and have a beer. I think the mutual fanaticism for F1 makes for a great party atmosphere.

I highly recommend it.

With or without Ross Brown, Honda is bound to perform better next season. When it does, Ross can take a lot of credit for it. I think it is an excellent move by him.

I heard honda had a miscalibrated wind tunnel while designing the car for the 2007 season, and as a result there car sucked balls. Anyone know anything else about that? Or did they really just suck balls?

P.s.- This is just a rumor I heard and I'm bringing it up for discussion, I didn't really do any research on it yet...

yes, their wind tunnel was giving them false data compared to real world results.

In testing at Barcelona today, Michael was fastest. All teams should have been testing without traction control and with the new common ECU in place.

whew... I just got back from Raleigh and San Francisco!
I didn't come back to Japan, but well this is life..

Anyway, being in Japan is easier to follow F1 news etc though.

Brown wanted some challenge in his job. If Ferrari was horrible, he would have joined Ferrari, but he was not attracted to Ferrari that did very well in 2007. Honda is already ready for 2008 machine, but we'll see how Brown puts his knowlege on the machine for some improvement.

Hamilton's going to be on Top Gear's 'Star in a reasonably priced car' this Sunday. Please please let him be slower than Webber, Hill and Mansell. And Simon Cowell too!

Alonso is back at Renault. Piquet Jr is the other driver.

I guess this means that Kovalainen is headed for Mclarens.

I am happy for Alonso. Kovalainen would be a driver for McLaren, I guess?

But Pedro de la Rosa is possible, too because apparently McLaren wants to keep Spanish sponsors.

McLaren apologises over Stepneygate
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/64370

"As a result of the investigations carried out by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile it has become clear that Ferrari information was more widely disseminated within McLaren than was previously communicated. McLaren greatly regrets that its own investigations did not identify this material and has written to the World Motor Sport Council to apologise for this."

"We must nonetheless accept that our own investigations into this matter were insufficient... As a result, our investigations focused most strongly on satisfying ourselves that no Ferrari confidential information had been used directly or indirectly on the 2007 and 2008 cars."

"Toward that end we would like to express our willingness, despite not agreeing with the findings, to enter into discussion with the FIA Technical Department as to a moratorium of an appropriate length in respect of the use of quickshift, fast fill and CO2 as a tyre gas"
