the best part of the game was trying to leave the game

then wondering why a random black guy talked to us as we sat in the car

"uh...that was rodney monroe...hahahahaha"

i think the stuff about students standing is exactly the reason why the people that pay money for their seats are separated from the students in regular games. i guarantee you that when you are old, fat and sore and have shelled out $2000+ for seats you will bitch the same way about some 20-year-old undergrad standing in front of you.

The announcer referred to Costner's 'difficulty adjusting to the officiating' during the post game.

I lolled.

so how much money do we make at an rbc center game and what would ticket prices need to be at reynolds to equal that?

(1) They've paid to sit there.

-- No. The people who pay mucho money had reserved seats, center court, across from the benches. They obviously paid enough money to warrent the argument that they've paid, and they can do whatever they damn well please. Everyone else were deemed equals. Otherwise it wouldn't have been general admission.

(2) Standing is for the baseline

-- Wrong again. I could stand on the baseline and not see shit, or I could stand at mid-court and enjoy the game. I was the 5th group camping out. I could have gotten baseline seats, but I wanted to sit in the middle. That didn't mean that i wasn't going to stand up.

(3) Standing makes me an ass

-- Fine. Then I'm an ass. You paid $2k and $12. I camped out for 11 hours and stood in line for another 3 and paid $5. I feel like you ordering your tickets online just doesn't justify you calling me an ass because I wanted to stand and watch the game. If you had said, please sit because the elderly lady behind you can't stand, then I'll sit. Calling me an ass doesn't get anything done.

It was embarassing for the Wolfpack Club in my opinion. If you're going to make things general admission understand that the collision of cultures is going to cause a problem. Absolutely ruined the experience if you ask me."

you realize there is student seating if you want to stand. And I'm sure you being an asshole to people ruined there experience. so quit being a little dumbass and sit down when there are older people around you. I had a 90 year old lady behind me watching the game. it would have been rude for me to stand in front of her and it was rude of the students who didn't fucking understand that they werne't sitting in the student section to demand everyone stands.

I wasn't mid court, but I was close to it, and everyone around me stood the entire game except for the old man behind me. Now if I am 10 rows up, and everyone in front of me is standing, then I'm going to fucking stand.

well of course, if everyone in front of you is standing, then you have no choice. I'm not going to miss the entire game if I can't see. But if no one in front of me is standing, and I have a perfect view sitting, and poor little miss 90 year old granny behind me wants to see (I'm 6'3) ...then I'm going to let her see. Show some respect people.

Yeah in reference to the OLD Alums bitching to NCSU students about standing...
so at the beginning of halftime, about three rows back this old white dude starts yelling at this kid for having stood the whole game...and I'm thinking

A) If you wanted to sit, then your ass should of got a seat where no one was in front of you...B) THis is NOT the RBC Center, this facility was DESIGNED for the Current students, and DIE-HARD FANS..so sit your FAT, OLD ASS DOWN, and C) GOD-FORBID some NCSU ALum, "EVER" say a single word to me during a game, about standing, because they will be embarassed and cussed the fuck out in front of 12, 500 people...

coming to a basketball game and bitching about students standing and supporting there team..shut the fuck up you old crusty bastard..man I could of thrown something at that dumb ass!!

I saw the attendance for the Marist game was 8400. I believe Reynolds capacity was 12000 when NC State played there in the 90s. Is the drop due to the fact that they put in new seats or is it because they actually counted seats this time?

When they remodeled they replaced all the lower level seats (the end zones use to go all the way back and meet the upper level) and took out two-three rows in the upper section when the walled it in (covering the windows that use to be at the top).

Not only did the end zones used to go all the way back and be as wide as the entire arena, the sideline sections used to extend from just behind press/scoring row up to meet the upper deck, as it still is at Cameron.

it was 12400 attendance in it's primetime. I would imagine its around 10000 or less now. But if only 8000something showed up I'd like to know where in the hell the other 1000+ tickets were...

yeah i cant understand the endzones. The seats are too steep, as they start ~25 feet from the court and end ~25 feet before the upper level. THere is soo much wasted space

They have to open it up for Volleyball, Gymnastics, and other sports that now use Reynolds. Probably makes it easier to convert from one to another without all that seating. And only women's basketball (+1 marginal Men's game) would require more than 8k seats, let alone the 12 and change before renovations.

If I recall right, biggest crowd (prior to this game) was the Women's Senior night. Was it sold out then?

With the new sitting some seats have no view, I think it is the upper endzones the first like four rows can't see over the lower endzone. Therefore they are unuseable.

I've said it a hundred times. 90 year olds have a right to bitch about people standing in front of them. 20 year olds don't. So if you're capable shut the fuck up about it. These were not season tickets that people paid for the right to buy the tickets for. THis was a free for all basically. I'll sit down for an old woman or man or if the person that asks me to sit has a good reason (knee surgery, something liek that). If you're under the age of 50 then stfu. If you're fat then you need the exercise.

Someone on PP blasted me for saying something similar, and it was a student. I'm not sitting down for students.

And on the Technical fouls....Sidney said the team was frustrated "and rightfully so". The frustration wasnt even that great considering how bad we got fucked the entire game. Plus the fact that their coach and one player deserved multiple technicals on actions that were much worse than what Horner and Costner did. I dont like a team that voices their opinion to the ref, but last night was understandable...I just wish they had actually done something to deserve the T's....of course it made for a louder reynolds lol.

that was my point exactly. when they pointed out that the people behind us were 50+ year old women who couldn't stand because of some knee issues, we sat down. when it was 40 something assholes who were too fat for their own good, then they can deal with it, and stfu.

I believe tehre are touranment rules on that type of stuff. I know during the ACC tourney you can only have one mascot and barely any of the cheerleaders.

The dance team doesn't get shit for what they do, a very small portion of the band and the cheerleading team get to go to the postseason games per NCAA/NIT regulations, but the dance team gets snubbed by athletics. While it's great that the cheerleaders can win their national competition or whatever, I'd rather be watching the dance team any day of the week, they deserve more than they get.

Check this out:

Great fans turn games up a notch
http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070318/SPORTS04/703180349

Apparently the people from Marist were quite impressed with the NC State fans. They felt it was a "hostile" environment (LOL I hope so! ). People from Poughkeepsie NY (and I am/was one of them) have no idea about what college BB means in North Carolina.
