oh hell no, i hate that song. worst rap song of the year so far. I'm talking about the old 50s song that goes:
Hey, hey hey baby! I want to know if you'll be my girl Hey, hey hey baby! I want to know if you'll be my girl
Here's LSU's band playing it in some field. Of all the Hey Baby vids I could have posted, I chose this one b/c of the great "scenery".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lso3Fnxi7YI
I wish the band would also consider playing Cameo's "Talking out the side of your neck". My high school band used to play it and it was awesome for getting the crowd moving and energetic.

State's band has been playing "Hey Baby" for the past couple of years now. Now we definitely weren't the first to play the song at a sporting event. I remember going to minor-league hockey and baseball games as a kid and hearing it played in the stadium. It's a classic, that pretty much everyone knows. PSU also plays "Hey Baby" and they actually get the whole stadium singing it, not just the student section.
I do like the way LSU plays it though, with that "i want to know-oho" addition to the words.

Quote : | "“WITH” stands for Wolfpack In The House. But come football game days this fall, it’ll be “Wolfpack in the tailgate lots” as WITH partners stroll the grounds encouraging sportsmanship and good tailgating behavior.
The Wolfpack In The House partners program will feature about 40 volunteers making sure tailgaters at North Carolina State University football games are having a good time while sticking to the rules. The plan was recommended by the university’s football task force and accepted by Chancellor James Oblinger in the spring. (The chancellor also accepted a recommendation that tailgating begin five hours before game time versus four hours established for last season.) A committee made up of representatives from university athletics, student affairs, the alumni association, student government, campus police and university dining developed the partners program.
“Ultimately, we want everyone to have a good time and enjoy connecting and reconnecting with friends and classmates in a positive environment,” said Tom Stafford, committee co-chair. “The partners are goodwill ambassadors; they are not there to police the grounds.”
“We want to have the best tailgating environment in the nation,” said Bobby Mills, student body president and committee member. “That’s the goal we’re setting. We want everyone to have a good time. We want all fans – including those of other teams – to leave here thinking they had a great time at Carter-Finley Stadium.”
Volunteers will walk the tailgate lots in groups of three or four, passing out WITH stickers. Two informational booths also will be staffed by partners and will manage a designated-driver pledge process as well as reward designated drivers.
Volunteers will receive a ticket for the day’s game, a parking pass and a Wolfpack In The House T-shirt. Student volunteers will receive a community service hours certificate.
The WITH volunteers will be trained by campus police in weekly mandatory training sessions. Anyone wishing to volunteer can find more information or sign up on-line at http://www.gopack.com." |

i bet that a fair amount of people will not want a WITH sticker. Now what they should do is hand out WITH koozies. I mean think about it, it's a hot Sept. gameday, and you either drink your beer fast b/c it can't stay cold for long and end up really drunk, or you have to just suffer through warm beer, so that you won't be completely hammered. A koozie is where it's at, people will want those and use them to keep their beer cold. Also people would keep them in their car. They will just put it in the car trunk and not think much about it as they head to the stadium, then the next game when they forget to bring a koozie again, they'll just use the WITH koozie that's still in the trunk. Soon it'll just be their main koozie, and if the koozie is red it will show school spirit. 8/1/2007 6:28:31 PM |

yea i like the idea of having students and alumni help keep things under controll. This way some of the small things can be better avoided and more importantly go unknown to the administration which will make us look better. and the koozie idea is much better 8/1/2007 7:35:23 PM |

there's no way they would go with the koozie idea because I'm surprised they haven't already tried to ban alcohol. The amount of cans and bottles littering the fairgrounds lot after a game is fucking ridiculous. 8/1/2007 8:27:11 PM |
Brass Monkey All American 13560 Posts user info edit post |
That's it, koozies it is. I say we start campaining for koozies over stickers. Maybe have a march on Oblinger's office (obviously joking, but emailing the person doing the WITH program could actually work) I mean koozies are incredibly cheap, even ones with stuff printed on them. The cheapest ones are the collapsible and foam ones. Plus I know I am more willing to listen to what someone has to say if they are handing stuff out to me that I could use. Maybe we can have a gopack.com poll for what the volunteers should hand out.
KOOZIES! KOOZIES! KOOZIES!
^they've handed out koozies before. I got a free one at a basketball game that looks like a NC State basketball jersey. it's good for longnecks, but not cans. the collapsible ones and the foam ones would be even cheaper. the free one I got had the RBC Centura logo on the back, so they could easily cover most of the cost by having one of the sponsors of NC State Football contribute some funds. it'd be a win-win situation, where fans are happy b/c they got something useful, there wouldn't be a bunch of WITH stickers littering the tailgate lots, and the sponsor gets more advertising.

Koozies are a great idea. They are pretty much the only handouts I don't immediately throw away, and would continue to advertise the message week after week.
Also, some of you could stand to bag up your trash before you leave your tailgates. It's not bad to have consolidated bags of trash on the ground, but it would be nice if crap wasn't strewn everywhere...especially if you are tailgating with glass. It really doesn't take that much effort. 8/2/2007 8:37:02 AM |

^^^That was also without Pressley, the best lineman, playing in the spring game.
Our oline needs work, lets not kid ourselves, that has been the weakness for 3 years now. I blame our terrible olines for our QB play. Davis, Stone, Evans have NEVER had any time to throw the damn ball. And with Jerrail's possible legal trouble, the oline looks even worse now. 8/4/2007 12:12:13 AM |

NC STATE vs. UCF
"The UCF knights are 1-10 since 1996 in road openers & the only win was in '98. UCF is 0-8 all-time vs. current ACC teams, being outscored on average 37-17."
"This will be the schools' 1st meeting & O'Brien has never faced UCF at BC either. The Wolfpack is 24-6 in regular season non-conference games."

How did Central Florida get Texas to come play in Orlando?
After UCF plays state in Raleigh on September 1st, they somehow get the Longhorns at home two weeks later.
I'm assuming it may have something to do with trying to recruit in Florida and not wanting to play a game at Doak Campbell, The Orange Bowl or The Swamp.
But it still seems weird...its like ECU getting Michigan to come play in Greenville. 8/5/2007 11:59:01 PM |
markgoal All American 15996 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, I'm sure Texas views it as a recruiting trip. Notre Dame recently agreed to play a home game in the Citrus Bowl. 8/6/2007 2:02:06 AM |
Brass Monkey All American 13560 Posts user info edit post |
Does an almost sure road win like that help out their BCS rating instead of them just hosting UCF? Like you know how a road win in college basketball over a team in the RPI top 150 weighs more than a win over a team of that same caliber at home. That could be one reason, besides recruiting in Florida, why they would schedule such a game. If they are one of the final teams in the BCS National Championship hunt, that might be the one thing that could give them the extra push in the computer rankings to put them in the BCS National Championship game, even though the computer rankings don't mean quite as much as they did a few years ago. 8/6/2007 6:17:49 PM |
