This excludes us right here, 5 star guys at NC State do not redshirt (Mario, T Baker, Demario) they do at Miami/USC/Texas, but not here. Similar to our situation in basketball, Hickson isn't coming to NC State to not start, maybe at UNC/Duke/UCONN, but not here. I realize he won't start against the Pan Am teams in early November, but by mid December when the reg season starts, he'll be in the starting lineup.

Baker and Brown were 5 and 4 star guys respectively. Barnes' first year will be when those two are seniors. He definitely won't start over them, so the only thing he could really do is play KR. 7/18/2007 8:03:07 PM |

brown is scary good and he's got the measurables to leave early.
THe reason nobody knows who he is is b/c we didnt feed him the ball last year and had a pathetic o-line (hopefully that will change). I just have a feeling he's gone after this year 7/18/2007 8:57:04 PM |

a 235 lb tailback as fast and talented as Brown should be a high draft pick... depends on the type of season he has and if he stays healthy 7/18/2007 9:39:34 PM |

Brown will be a hot commodity. Not many backs with his size and power have his speed. He will have to show that he can receive outta the backfield and block before he should think about leaving though. Toney Baker is closer to being a guy that could go to the NFL. Hes shown that he can receive outta the backfield, and he can block pretty well. Baker eerily reminds me of Tiki Barber 7/18/2007 10:08:59 PM |

^ Brown did drop a lot of balls last year. Baker to me needs a little bit more speed to be a NFL back. He is awesome on his short runs that get 8-12 yards though
o by the way, theres some rumblings about Manning and Tennessee. I dont think its anything to be alarmed a/b bc it may just be internet rumors but i am just ready for him to pick the PACK. ALSO a unc poster claims he talked to TM and asked him what he thought of everybody thinking he was picking the Pack and TM replied "if everybody thinks that then they are in for a shock". This is also a UNC poster and prolly gay but i wouldnt get all stirred up over it. I was just letting yall know what some of the commotion is a/b. Maybe it will clear up some tmrw 7/19/2007 12:04:39 AM |

Manning is NC State. The only competition is Clemson, and thats very slim competition. Hes never visited Tennessee and no way in hell does he commit to tennessee without visiting.
Whitley has been hyping up NC State to everyone he talks to. An article on Spencer Adams recently had adams saying that whitley was talkin about us all the time, and hyping us up. Thats really odd if hes goin to VT 7/19/2007 12:47:12 PM |

Whitley visited VT today and when asked a/b his visit he just told everybody they would find out Monday. (when he anounces)
I hope state can try to get him on some kind of visit this weekend. Atleast there is drama for monday. 7/19/2007 8:34:25 PM |

haha...you people.
Manning took UNC and VT out of his top 3 this week. I think its down to State, Florida, and Clemson, with State as "high" and the other two as "medium", the others all as low. You can see that on his profile. 7/19/2007 10:56:18 PM |

And don't forget that these are still just verbals... we are excited because Dwayne Allen has backed out of his verbal from UGa and is high on us... the very same thing could happen to us (and is likely to with one or two). 7/19/2007 11:07:12 PM |

^^I beleive State does have a great chance with Manning and they are indeed the top team on his list, however you cant base a persons interest in a school based on that profile stuff b/c 90% of the time they have no idea what they are talking a/b 7/19/2007 11:27:21 PM |

No one that has committed just yet. Someone like a Whitley, Spencer Adams, Abrams-Ward, etc. High profile targets that aren't absolutely in love with NC State like our current commits are. Also, if we have a rough year then its going to get ugly. 7/20/2007 8:56:12 AM |

the way i look at it.......Eddie Whitley is a 3* prospect and yet hes still setting up a press conference and committing on ESPNU. OBVIOUSLY........this kid loves the attention. What would be the point of him going through all that, without there being a little suspense? He knows where hes goin....he just doesnt want everyone else to know.
If he commits to VT...i'll send my apologies and not post in this thread anymore 7/20/2007 12:17:51 PM |
awwwwkenan All American 1432 Posts user info edit post |
heres my opinion on the matter........
I think he knew he was going to NC STATE and cancelled his last visit to them b/c of it. I think the coaches however talked him into going on a one day visit so they could convince him to commit to VT on Monday. I belive he went on the visit b/c he a) felt like he owed it to them and b) to add suspense for Monday. If he kept telling them no he wasnt coming on a visit then that would prolly leak out everywhere and would kill his PC.
I am not saying he will go to State b/c that trip might have indeed changed his mind (although if he commits to VT i can see this as one of the players we will say might switch to us for the next 6 months until signing day)
i'd give it 65% state and 35% VT 7/20/2007 12:32:01 PM |

He'll also learn from offensive coordinator David Shaw, who has many years of NFL experience. Luck also has a better shot at becoming a three-year starter at Stanford than at some other programs who bring in blue-chip recruits each year. Glennon will learn his craft under N.C. State offensive coordinator Dana Bible. Bible coached current NFL quarterbacks Tim Hasselbeck, Brian St. Pierre and Quinton Porter at Boston College, and Bible is the man responsible for the development of 2007 Heisman Trophy sleeper Matt Ryan." |

Nice bit about TOB and Coach Yow
Quote : | "I think the greatest thing about coming to N.C. State has been to watch Kay Yow," said O’Brien, referring to the women’s basketball coach who has battled breast cancer for two decades. “What she’s going through, and what her courage is, and what her pride is. " |
Quote : | "And I think she stands for everything that is great about the Wolfpack nation. And I would have never known her — and I’m not actively speaking in the past tense, because she’s doing very well and everything else — but to watch her go through this year and what she did with that basketball team of hers ... I’m blessed and happy to have the opportunity to be at North Carolina State, and [to have] gotten to know her and watch her and listen to her speak. That’s the best thing that’s happened to me as a member of the N.C. State family.”
Yow missed two months of the 2006-07 season with Stage 4 cancer but returned to lead her team to the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

I heard from a credible source that our offer to him is contingent on whether or not his knee heals correctly. From what this person (who has a locker in the murphy center) said, we are waiting for the results of his surgery at UNC to make the offer a real one, but that he may still verbal to us anyhow... 7/23/2007 10:24:35 AM |
