It's gotta be Rubber Soul. I'm confident that we haven't seen their Abbey Road yet That said, I'm done with the Beatles references. 1/5/2008 12:57:40 PM |

Beatles references make the world go 'round 1/5/2008 1:01:20 PM |

haha.... this could be a fun game
The Bends = Rubber Soul (the great departure from previous more generic/mainstream efforts and the sign of a legendary album to come)
OK Computer = Revolver (many feel it's both of their best works, but the entire catalog of both bands is so good that it's always open for debate)
Kid A/Amnesiac = The White Album ( 2 discs of brilliance and quirkyness perfectly blended over 2 CD's)
Hail To The Thief = Sgt. Peppers
In Rainbows = Abbey Road 1/5/2008 1:03:48 PM |

^ yeah, that's a major major stretch... Sgt. Pepper's was a landmark, milestone album. Hail to the Thief was the sound of a great band being bored as hell. 1/5/2008 3:13:41 PM |

^^ I agree, although Thom started it by saying that "In Rainbows" is Radiohead's "Revolver." I was surprised to hear him publicly state such comparisons 1/5/2008 4:07:55 PM |
Ernie All American 45943 Posts user info edit post |
well, it's one thing to say that this was intended to be their chef d'oeuvre
it's quite another to try to align radiohead's entire catalog with the beatles' -- especially if you're saying hail to the thief was somehow as significant as sgt. pepper's 1/5/2008 4:29:55 PM |
jstpack All American 2184 Posts user info edit post |
Oh hell no, HTTT is no where near Sgt. Peppers.... which is why I stopped the descriptions. I'm not sure what I would compare HTTT to realistically. Maybe "Let it Be" because it wasn't their strongest effort, but still far superior to most and certainly better than their early material (Pablo Honey). 1/5/2008 5:06:58 PM |
Ernie All American 45943 Posts user info edit post |
don't compare it to anything, that's the point 1/5/2008 5:08:58 PM |
jstpack All American 2184 Posts user info edit post |
I don't think most folks were taking it that seriously... I know I sure didn't mean it that way.
The catalyst of the conversaion was Radiohead comparing their own album to a Beatles record.

I'm so stoked because Charlotte is 1.5 hours from Columbia, and Atlanta is 3 hours from Columbia. So, provided I can score tickets, it looks like I'll be seeing Radiohead twice this spring/ summer! 1/9/2008 12:06:18 PM |

Depends....
When I had tickets to the Bull Run show, it was over 2 days. First day tickets weren't bad and I think around 40 after fees, and then we had to scalp tickets to day 2 for $100. Unfortunately, both days were rained out. We got our money back for day 1, but were fucked on day 2.
When I went to the shows in Columbia, Maryland for Hail To The Thief, they were about the same and we had no issues getting tickets.
Last summer (June 2006), I went to Philly to see them play at the Tower Theatre. They were performing the material that appeared on In Rainbows and more. The venue was only about 4,500 seats. We had the pre-sale code, 3 computer's going and still didn't get tickets. It was like the Smashing Pumpkins shit this summer. We ended up having to pay around $200 a piece to see them, but, it was worth it to me to be able to see them in such a small venue.1/9/2008 7:40:21 PM |
