^yeah, I'm not buying it.
Everyone I know who watched the show liked Dick as well. If you read any of the BB8 message boards, they are overwhelmingly in favor of the Donatos. I highly doubt CBS had to skew anything to keep Dick in. Without Dick, I would have stopped watching weeks ago as it would have been boring as hell. In fact, the week that Dick was about to go home, both my wife and I declared we were finished with the show. 9/19/2007 11:23:05 AM |

^i kinda said the same thing in reverse. i said i was done with the show when they decided to keep him. actually, i didn't have a HUGE problem with dick...my problem was with daniele. i probably wouldn't have been bitter with the show if she had of left a earlier. i would have liked to see dick stay (for entertainment), but daniele would have to go. 9/19/2007 11:28:29 AM |

if daniele had of left, i think dick would have teamed with eric and jessica and actually made a run to the end with eric, like they agreed on. dick turned on eric and jess because of daniele, and i don't think he really wanted to. i wish that was the way it had of played out. 9/19/2007 11:34:14 AM |

They would have had to turn on each other eventually. You either turn when you have control, or you become the victim like eric and jess did. To think you can get through the whole game without turning on someone at all is naive. I never had a problem with the way that Danielle or Dick played strategy-wise. I honestly don't think Eric and Jess had a problem with getting evicted at that point either. Jess just wanted to know ahead of time rather than being lied to all week.
Danielle was whiny as hell. Dick was rude as hell, although I think the dustin, amber, jameka crowd had anything they got coming to them. They were obnoxiously pious and acting like they were the "good" people then talking all kinds of shit behind backs. Jen is the only one I felt sorry for when she was getting roasted by Dick, and he never let up on her because he knew it got to her. He kept at it because he just didn't like her and he knew he could rattle her for competitions and she was essentially the only other person who could win them regularly. If they showed a fraction of the shit he said to Jen on the tv show, alot of people wouldn't have liked him I think.

Everyone I know who watched the show hated Dick. And I don't know which message boards you frequented, but I was really into tvclubhouse and there certainly wasn't overwhelming support for the Donatos.9/19/2007 2:37:28 PM |

people on the show have stated that when the game was over and in their private diary room sessions that ED is a totally different person.
I believe it too coming from the goodbyes he gave Zach, Daniele and Eric.
im glad he won, he was the onlyyyyyyyy reason the show did half the numbers it did.
obviously america loved Dick else Dustin wouldnt have been the first in the sequester house. 9/19/2007 2:40:09 PM |

yeah, obviously the majority of America was in favor of Dick based on how they voted for Eric to whatever it was with influencing, etc. if you watch any type of reality tv show, the people at the end who get questioned by the people who have already been eliminated, like survivor, they are always bitter and angry, and the people in the end have always ended up playing a more strategic game than the rest, and had to lie, manipulate, etc, in order to be there. that's what a lot of people dont understand is. no one is going to get to the end if they have the "oh ill just play the game as is, and hopefully it gets me to the final", people work together to better themselves in the game, and take out who is neccessary to get there, it's simple. 9/19/2007 3:06:16 PM |

^ Not neccessarily, Zach almost made it to the final 2 and barely won any competitons till the final weeks and with practically no allies or friends. I think the final 3 are lucky that Eric was not able to vote when Dustin got evicted. Dick would have surely got evicted however, I do agree that the season would be rather boring without him.
I am too glad that Danielle didn't win. Granted she won alot in the game, it's her young stupid personality that really didn't deserve the money. I think Dick played the game well and was for the most part true in his words and actions. He just told it like it was and didn't care what people thought. However he did over do it at times.

It would be interesting to see how a different season (spring instead of summer) would have on the game, especially the choice of contestants. Big Brother requires the longest time commitment of any of the reality shows. Would a spring start eliminate some, such as college students, from participating? 11/8/2007 1:31:29 PM |

Too soon for another all-star version, unless you do some type of reality show all-stars.
Not too sure a celebrity version would work well. It would resemble the show VH1 does with all the celebs housed together (I forget its name). 11/8/2007 1:35:27 PM |

Quote : | " CBS leans on 'Brother' during strike Reality show staffing up for early launch By JOSEF ADALIAN of Daily Variety
CBS may rely on its "Big Brother" as a strike contingency.
Skein, usually a summer staple, has started staffing up for an in-season run that could be on the air as soon as February, people familiar with the situation said.
Indeed, in anticipation of a strike, Eye quietly began casting for the next edition of the show a few weeks ago.
Exec producer Allison Grodner is also said to be working on a new creative twist for the Julie Chen-hosted skein, in which a group of strangers live together in a house for three months.
There's been buzz that the next edition of "Big Brother" might actually use celebrities, as opposed to ordinary people. A long strike might work in favor of such a plan, since some celebs normally busy working on sitcoms and dramas might have some time on their hands.
Possibility of an early "Big Brother" popped up on Tuesday's edition of the Eye's "Early Show." Anchor Hanna Storm joked that the show might be back sooner than the summer, prompting a roll of the eyes from Chen. Chen then expressed her hope that the strike is settled soon.
"Big Brother" would be a perfect strike weapon for CBS because it airs three times a week, filling three key hours of primetime.
Eye execs declined to comment.
Endemol USA and Allison Grodner Prods. produce "Big Brother."

'Big Brother' host Julie Chen
The writers' strike has CBS ramping up for a new season of "Big Brother."
Indeed, the network will be casting for new players here Sunday in anticipation of getting a winter edition of the summer show rolling early next year, should the strike continue.
"We have been told by CBS to get ready for anything, so there's nothing that is certain at this point," "Big Brother" executive producer Allison Grodner told the Daily News yesterday. "It is a wait-and-see. We are preparing for anything."
New York auditions are taking place Sunday at 243 W. 30th St., third floor, from noon to 8 p.m., and on Dec. 1 at Duff's Brooklyn, at N. Third St. and Kent Ave., from 7 to 10 p.m.
"Big Brother" has always been a summer staple, but the opportunity for a prime midseason premiere means producers will be pulling out all the stops.
"We really want it to stand out," said Grodner. "We want it to be special, because we've never done something like this before. I promise you it will be different from any other 'Big Brother' you've ever seen."
So don't expect another "America's Player," the stunt incorporated last summer that gave viewers a say in the outcome.
"That's really hard to do twice," Grodner said. "Anyone coming to be a part of 'Big Brother' this year would know about it and we'd hate to have people act differently because they think that the viewers are in control. ... That doesn't mean that it couldn't return in some other way, but doing exactly what we did again, no."
Longtime "Big Brother" host Julie Chen will also be returning to the program, regardless of whether it comes back midseason or next summer. " |

I wouldn't mind seeing celebrity big brother in the US. They do celeb BB in the UK every January and then regular BB in the summer. They're both pretty interesting to watch. Dennis Rodman was on one season of UK celeb BB. 11/18/2007 7:15:36 PM |

From Evel Dick's myspace blog posted today:
Quote : | " The LA casting call for Big Brother 9 was yesterday in Hollywood. I went down to see everyone and say hi to some of the people in production. As soon as I walk up I see some press there with the cameras and they are interviewing people in line. I walk up into their shot as they were interviewing Joey Buttafucco who was trying to get on the show. So, I walk up and say that if he made the show, for the twist they would put Amy Fisher in the house. I thought it was as odd as everyone else did that he was there trying out for the show. But he was a big fan of the show and as it turned out, a fan of mine as well.... nice enough guy. So, I spent the majority of the few hours I was there bullshitting with everyone there as they were waiting for their chance to get on BB9 telling stories of my auditions in season 5, 6 and season 8. Everyone was surprised and happy to see me and it was great to be there. As weird as it sounds, the 3 month audition process has been a part of my life for the last 3 years. It has been like a reunion of sorts getting to see the casting people and producers year after year. And I will miss that. Is that weird? I love those people to death and if they didn't have faith in me and pushed CBS so hard to get me on the show, I would have never been on. So, to everyone of them that went way out of their way to get me on the show.... (Allison, Rich, Robyn and Arnold among so many others) Thank you for everything." |

Showtime will run a second season of Big Brother: After Dark, its three-hour late-night show following what transpires in the house of the CBS reality show late at night.
Starting Feb. 12, the live show will run at midnight every night of the week on Showtime digital sibling SHO2. Big Brother premieres a new, first-ever winter season on CBS that same day at 9 p.m., which will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and Wednesdays and Sundays at 8 p.m.
The move is a no-brainer for Showtime, which has the late-night programming space open on SHO2, and it represents an important step in an increasingly synergistic relationship between the pay cable network and its corporate sibling, CBS, which haven't always capitalized on each other's programming.
The broadcast network, as part of its writers’ strike contingency plans, will air season one of Showtime's critically acclaimed original series, Dexter, beginning Feb. 17 at 10 p.m..
“Big Brother: After Dark was a big success for us at bringing an audience to very late-night time periods on SHO2. This began as an experiment with our friends at Endemol and CBS, and I'm happy that it worked so well for all of us,” said Bob Greenblatt, Showtime's entertainment president, in a statement. “I'm amazed at how much curiosity there is about what goes on in the Big Brother house after the lights are out, but what better place to present that than on Showtime, where we have a lot of on-air real estate in the wee hours of the morning.”" |
