kind of saw this coming, but Moylan didn't get a good report after seeing Dr. James Andrews. The Devine and Yates trades are looking worse as time goes on.

The seriousness of the Moylan injury is not surprising. The Braves bullpen is cursed. Imagine if Gonzalez came back 100% and Soriano pitched like he did in the 1st half last year. Mix that with Moylan's sub-2 ERA and the Braves were setup extremely well.

Too bad we have zero of those guys now and are using spring training "barely make the team" garbage to close out games.

So the peachtree games are reportedly being simulcasted on channel 591 in Greensboro. However, its not working for me. Anyone know anything about this?

Tonight Chipper is 3-5 with 2 more homeruns and 4 rbi. He is batting .455 on the year.

^^ maybe he'll get in the all star game around the 7th or 8th inning...

^ yeah, that is pretty shocking. I actually thought he would hurt the Braves pen with his 5 and 6 inning performances over the longrun, but never thought he'd be injured. Despite him leaving a sour taste in every Mets fans mouth, I liked and respected the guy...

Well you kinda gotta respect him like you respect any other 300 game winner.

I didn't think he was washed up at all. Given our pen was supposed to be stacked, I thought his 5 or 6 innings would be pretty alright. But damn Glavine...

This is seriously some NC State shit.

^ oh and stfu. Chipper is putting in more than an All Star Performance. He keeps this up and he'll notch up an MVP. I'm sure Chipper is envious of David Wright's .283 performance thus far.

I don't know how to look it up, but at one point I heard the Braves were leading the league (yeah, it's early) in relievers thrown per game at about 5. Any time you're throwing your relievers that much, it's not a good thing. Throwing every day, or every other day, isn't good for a pitcher. Because, and I don't know how much you know about baseball, but you still throw on days you're not in the game, and you still work out, and if for some reason you don't throw for about 2 days in a row, you probably throw a 20-30ish pitch bullpen. And all of that wears relievers down. Anyways, in the situation, it was fine for Smoltz not to be in the game, I was just making sure he didn't get hurt like the rest of the rotation.

Win streak... 2 games.

^ The second game of the season went 12 innings, we used eight relievers; I'd say with only 15 or 16 games played, that skews the stat a bit.

It's the same quadriceps injury that's been bothering him all season. He might miss a few games, I doubt he'll go to the DL though. Also, this is the first time in Glavine's career that's been on the DL. Great timing!

what is that? 4 in a row? Teixiera comin alive, Kotsay keepin it up.. I haven't actually seen a game in a while, but looks good to me... Even if Chipper is hurt, its the Nats and Marlins..should be able to take about 3 of these with him just maybe gettin some pinch hits. Or is the injury worse than that?

The Braves need to keep this hot streak going because they are in the middle of an "easy" stretch of the schedule and are still only 9-9. The Mets have been playing much better competition and eventually we'll be playing the hard schedule while they get shit teams like the Nats, Pirates, and Dodgers (yes the Dodgers suck).

Anyway hope Chipper can play because we need every run we can get. What is the Braves run differential this year? It has to be pretty damn good despite the lame 9-9 start.

+31, we're three games under our Pythagorean expectation, which I guess could be a promising stat, or an omen of a 2007 redux. We finished 5 games below our PE last year and were 2nd in the league in runs scored and 6th in runs allowed.

Man, I had forgotten he was that close, only four to go. It's amazing that he'll get there after spending four years in the pen. It's also amazing that Glavine is still 400+ away. Also, I didn't realize that Smoltz finished third in the league in strikeouts the past two years.

Interesting 3000 K fact: Cesar Geronimo, the center fielder on the Big Red Machine teams was the 3000th strikeout for both Bob Gibson and Nolan Ryan.
