Depends on what you are using it for. But I would go with a bent butt rod. I like the Penn Rods, but think only the International V rod comes in Bent Butt.

1 Tuna, 1 Gaffer. Everyone who was fishing offshore run in early because of the storms that were coming and they all got clobbered. We stayed out there and didn't get touched.

Glad we decided to sit this one out...was apparently a very rough weekend.

yea, it was rough for a bit where we were too..
We fished out of murrells inlet so we stayed out of it for the most part, we had to make a 32 mile run into ocean isle in an hour to make weigh in, and just barely made it... Barked several times

Ended up 9th

Well during the tourney we ruined our fish bag, any recommendations on a new one? A pelagic would be nice... but not really in our budget

Might try to look for a used one or win a tournament and buy a new one.

just went fishing with my roommate at the local fish pond (i live on a WMA in SC) and my roommate totally schooled me. im used to fishing on lake norman, where you can put a hotdog on a hook, sink it to the bottom, and wait. the bottom is too soft here, so i spent the first 30-45 minutes with nothing, while my roommate was getting bites seconds after casting out.

we didnt keep count, but i think he ended up getting somewhere around 10 fish, while i got somewhere around 6 or 7 (and i had 2 poles set out).

im just glad to finally catch something, and i caught a nice buzz while i was at it!

maybe there will be pics next time.

I'm heading to Beaufort Tuesday...FINALLY. Seems like I've been working all summer while everyone else has been fishing. Hoping to get hit up the inlet at the Cape and Beaufort inlet and see if I can get on the spanish bite. Also may try to get out to a few AR's and try out the king fishing if anything is going on. I (think) I am fishing in the Tred Barta Billfish tourney next weekend. Anybody else going to be down that way and drowning bait?

We went out yesterday and pulled in a lot of small black tip sharks, one 4 foot bonnet head shark, a few big bull reds, some smaller reds, and some stingrays.

Was a decent day.
