JJ made some really bad gambles on defense at the worst times that gave osby wide open dunks. osby hadn't done shit all night. jj just had to play straight up defense and collect the rebound.

Gist made anyone on him look stupid, but there's nothing we could do about that (well, except for blocking him out ).

We let vasquez get about 5 unimpeded drives to the basket either on curls or simple drives. Then, you add in all the drives and dishes. We just played him terribly. I don't understand why we didn't have fells on him the whole time in the second half. Grant and the freshmen really can't defend fast PGs.

When we weren't recovering for penetration, we also got lazy and didn't pressure the passer in the second half, making it much easier for them to get the ball inside.

Bottom line is that we are a dumb team that is soft.

Well, he was right...the whole he was being shoved away from the basket.

However...that was crucial. It brought it back to single digits and then total deflation. I felt good after that until I saw the technical. I know we played poor defense, but still. If a team is making 75% of their shots (Gist), you won't beat them no matter who you are. We just always seem to catch the dudes who have their career bests.

I went to that game and it makes me realize how good Tobacco Road is. I HATE Carolina and Duke but at least their fans are knowledgeable. Maryland fans were absolutely retarded and that Arena for being new is a shithole IMO. At least going to games around Raleigh the fans are smart and passionate it didnt even get that loud in there.

Although Blackistone is a Northwestern grad he probably is also a UMD fan. He was born in D.C. and grew up in Hyattsville, MD. I know that he is one of the people that was interviewed for the documentary on Len Bias. He wishes UMD was on Tobacco Road. Maryland fans always feel left out of rivalries. They have no natural rival. WVU hates Pitt and VT more than UMD. Penn State hasn't played them in football in forever and dominated them the few times they did play when they had a short series back in the day. UVA cares more about VT and vice versa. They want to be Duke's rival in basketball so bad, but most Duke fans don't give two shits about Maryland. They'd like to be seen as a rival of UNC and State's as well.
