Man it was nice to finally see the Celtics win on the road. Even if they don't win the championship it is nice to see them prove that they were not a fluke all year long. That being said, I think it is utter bullshit what the Pistons got away with in the fourth quarter. I have never seen so many blatant reach-ins and moving picks that were not called. I really wish the referees would just call the game how it really was regardless of whether the calls go for or against the home team or aide in a huge comeback.

^exactly my feelings as well.

the referring in this game was way too inconsistent, and extremely poor in the fourth quarter.

^^what rule are you talking about?

i agree on pop...he seems quite annoyed during all the in game interview segments. but in his defense, i can see why a coach wouldn't want to be answering questions from a sideline reporter in the middle of an intense playoff game. it was quite a contract between him and when jackson was being interviewed and was joking and clowning on craig sager

i think people are sleeping on the spurs a bit...i don't think this series is over, especially if manu plays like game 3 for the rest of the series instead of games 1 and 2.

^when manu crossed the 3 point line and it caused a jump ball... BULLSHIT rule... it gave the spurs the fucking ball back and they scored 2 points on the possession instead of the 1 point free throw that was taken away

^ah yes, i saw that. and it was only a jump ball because there was a line violation on the lakers as well. it does seem like it would make much more sense to just have the player shoot another free throw rather than allowing the spurs to get another possession.

garnett really appears to be quite a class act
i would be really upset for the pistons to lose this series, but very happy to see garnett succeed in the finals

is anyone watching this game? they just said the shot clock didn't reset because it was an airball, then showed the replay and the ball clearly just struck the rim which is why it came down at such an angle to go off san antonio's foot. i like how the announcers watched the replay and then sat in silence after seeing it too.

oh well, doesn't matter at this point.

Probably should have. He moved into Fisher after he was in the air to get the foul. Seems to always get called a foul.

The hell with that. Spurs shot the ball like shit all game long, and they got more calls than the Lakers throughout the game. They can't expect to get bailed out by the refs at the end of the game, when their "designed play" with 2.1 seconds left called for a 35 footer.

Oh, and Fisher's shot did hit the rim.

you are correct sir.

and yeah, the spurs had plenty of chances to win that game, but aside from the free throw line they shot like shit and didn't get rebounds. man, that WAS some nc state shit.

Which is ridiculous to begin with, but they're never going to give that call to Brett Barry at the end of the game, especially after he halfasses the shot anyway.

Oh, I agree. Its like the foul that Chris Paul tried to draw from beyond half court on a buzzer beater.

2 pieces:

1: Doug Collins is apparently taking the Bulls job: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3417029

2: Fines for floppers: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3416579

the fines thing is stupid... im definitely against floppers but man... let them play basketball. and when they flop like bitches the refs can make the call.

to CHARGE SOMEBODY FOR FALLING DOWN UNNECESSARILY just does not make much sense
i mean seriously, think about. charging them MONEY just for falling down on the court, and this is an OPINIONATED fine, it's not black and white, well probably 90% of the time

good luck doug collins

I don't agree with the fine thing either. I know that players will embellish when they get hit, but they still get hit. It's one thing if it's like soccer when a guy isn't even touched and they act like they got shot. Fact is, if they are standing their ground and there's contact, it should be a charge. If they're moving, get nudged, and fall back, it's a blocking foul.

I know Vlade Divac used to be the king back in the day, especially when he had to guard Shaq. I mean really, it's Shaq. It wouldn't take much for him to bowl someone out of the way. I'd fall back too instead of having to deal with the punishment of having to protect the paint when he's posting up and backing down on the block. Shaq can't impose on another person's space. Spin and go around him or something.

I think it's a good idea. The point isn't to take away the chance to take a charge, it's to eliminate the bullshit flop calls. Watch enough of the Spurs and you'll see them do it.

I have a similar issue with Varejao on the Cavs. It seems like his main goal on offense is to run at someone and then throw the ball in the air with his arms waving wildly just to try to get a foul call, rather than actually trying to get the ball in the basket.
