Yeah its pretty clear that Bill's not gonna kill the family. Sookie would never stay with him after that.

Agreed. If you notice there's a bucket/hole for taking a crap in attached to the floor. So the bitch of the device is that everytime someone has to take a crap everyone has to move.

could you really not tell that this was going to happen? basically every shot of the preacher's wife is her looking at Jason like she wants to fuck him

yeah, that was great - but barely, if at all, an exaggeration of some of the real Christian pop/rock bands out there. If you look around in the Christian music scene, it gets seriously creepy. (although not as creepy as Father-Daughter "purity balls" where daughters "pledge their virginity" to their dads )

i was going to say how just uninterested i have become w/ this show... but given how much everyone seems to love it and my history of shitting on shows past their first season... i will refrain.

i'm so excited that season 2 has actually been good! i was worried that it would become uninteresting, but it's definitely kept the suspense-factor up quite well.

first episode was OK. I thought it, unnecessarily, followed a pretty cliche formula for season openers - address every issue from the finale, highlight plot lines for this season, a lot of jumping around between those things, etc.

But I really liked the second episode. I also really like Jessica's character and what they're doing with her. And she nailed the impersonation of Bill, which was very entertaining.

try waiting 2 weeks.

there is no new episode on July 4th weekend. instead, next Sunday you can catch up on the first 3 episodes, airing back to back.

Not as good as the first 2 episodes of the season but still good. Although, the Jason at jesus camp plotline is starting to bore me.

Well, that's the thing, his story was the weakest in the first season too. But, he was always banging some hot broad which kept it tolerable

what is the deal when he says "as your maker, I command you!" Does she sort of mindlessly obey him when he says that? Or is it just him stating his authority and her going along with it? I thought it was the latter in the past, but when he told her to drive straight home she turned around as if she was slightly possessed or something.

I agree that the jesus camp plot line is losing interest. photo 2/3 under the Sarah Newlin character page is the only thing keeping me in there:
http://www.hbo.com/trueblood/season2/

It's somewhat spoiler-ish, but not surprising.

And I can't stand the new font they're using for the title.

it is the latter. did you not notice that she went to the bar and that she almost never obeys him?

Did you not notice that she didn't go to the bar until an entire day later? And that she ALWAYS obeys him when he says that? She definitely drove straight home and slept there. While Bill and sookie were at fangtasia. It was the next night that she brought hoyt (sp?) home from the bar.

Yeah, she sort of disobeys him some, but not that much. And never when he pulls the "as your maker" shit.

hmm you are right, was the next day. my b.

however, i still contend it is the latter explanation, perhaps it was just the way she said it that scared her. i dont know that we have met any other maker/makee combos, but it seems that vampire obedience is generally held through fear of reprisal rather than any special powers of persuasion, such as bill's obedience to eric.

Eric is the maker of Pam, and Pam obeys him...but it doesn't appear by some type of mind control, but just as an order of things in the vampire world, so i think it's just authority

Eric seems to be the maker of the girl who is always with him. She follows his commands and he said something about her comparing her to Jessica with Bill.

i wish i could say that to my kids and they would blindly obey.

"AS YOUR MAKER I COMMAND YOU...to get me another beer!"

or

yeah, me too kind of. That was a bit of a let down that nothing actually happened to him last week.

they're following a bit of a normal super-hero plot-hole where Sookie's power only comes out when convenient for the story. That's fine though, it would get pretty annoying otherwise, i guess

well that is semi-explained by her intentionally suppressing the power most of the time. In the case with the bar, the woman slipped up and started to say something. That caught sookie's attention and is what started her on listening to the woman's thoughts.

well, IIRC, back in the first couple episodes of S1, she was being bombarded all the time and couldn't really cut it off.
Or maybe it was one of those "i'll just try not to think about it. ... damn that makes me think about it more!"

Last episode was pretty wtf.

I just want to know what the deal is with Mary Anne. So she seems to feed on the other people being crazy, and it turns her into the minotaur like beast? Why do their eyes turn black and why were they putting dirt/cake on their faces. And what is the deal with Sam's new girl, how did she survive getting slashed by Mary Anne?

she seems to be something like a succubus-like demon, or a Lilith...feeding off sex and orgies and people playing in to their innermost desires (the shaking thing--feeding off the sin) so that she can turn in to the lizard bull and kill people.

why Daphne isn't dead yet (like the voodoo lady) with that nasty scar on her back (which we know injects a paralyzing poison per voodoo lady and Sookie) is beyond me though...unless she's ALSO a demon like thing like Mary Ann and does her bidding kind of like Eggs and the house slave. Mary Ann using Daphne to get to Sam.

spoiler alert

SWEET!!! someone else that can read minds like Sookie!

end spoiler

We saw the scar on her back as she got in the water to swim with Sam, then she got out of the water and we saw the scar again (as did Sam). But at Tara's birthday party, she was wearing a tube top and when she turned to walk away, the scar wasn't there. So I'm kinda confused as to where the scratch marks went. Did anyone notice that??

Also super excited about Sookie's new "friend" at the hotel.

i noticed the missing scar too at the party...it was either a makeup malfunction (it happens), or it's no longer there for a reason. the fact she knew what Sam was though, as does MaryAnn, is what makes me think they are in cahoots with one another (like Eggs and the house slave)...esp since the scar didn't kill/paralyze her.
