It looks like i have 2 extra tickets. I wont be getting all of the tickets (6 total) until we get to knoxville, but I will have 2 extra if anyone is still interested. Not sure of the section for the extra 2 yet, but i can find out if need be.

Quick note... Not sure if they are talking about it on the UT boards, but UCLA's home opener vs. SDSU has a very good chance of being canceled and rescheduled due to several fires in the surrounding areas... meaning their season opener would be at Neyland.

Quote :
"KNOXVILLE -- Few aspects of Eric Berry's sensational sophomore season at Tennessee were overlooked.

At least one amazing feat flew under the radar, though.

Every time Berry crashed into a ball carrier or raised his arms for an interception, the All-American put more pressure on an increasingly painful shoulder injury that required offseason surgery.

"My gosh, just imagine what he'd be doing with two good shoulders," former Volunteers coach Phillip Fulmer said.

Everyone is about to experience that, because Berry admitted Tuesday that his shoulder has been a constant nuisance since he first tweaked it -- at age 12.

"It's back to 120 percent," Berry said. "I'm very confident in it. I feel like a whole new player, in a way."

Don't say you weren't warned, UT opponents.

"He was pretty good with one arm, you know," Vols wide receiver Gerald Jones joked early in preseason camp.

Modern medicine allows more ways than ever to diagnose and treat injuries that used to be largely ignored. But Berry came from an old-school football family, and he waited years to disclose fully the shoulder discomfort to his father, former UT captain and tailback James Berry.

"I heard it crack but kind of just dealt with it, because that's how my dad raised me," Eric said. "If you're not dying, you're pretty much OK.

"I told (people) it was hurting, but I'm not the type to just sit back and say I can't do something from a little pain. But I do want to say it probably progressed over the years to a greater pain. At that time it wasn't unbearable."

Berry intercepted six passes in the Vols' final eight games last year and returned them a combined 264 yards for a 44-yard average. He also had 50 tackles, seven stops behind the line of scrimmage, 10 pass breakups and two sacks in that stretch.

If not for Fulmer's comments and Berry's occasional, slight grimaces, the injury probably could have stayed a secret. Berry never publicly used it as an excuse.

"That's just not the kind of guy he is," senior linebacker Rico McCoy said. "He just wouldn't do that."

But Berry admitted Tuesday to feeling a little post-surgery hesitancy. He was held from contact all spring, and he -- like everyone else in the program -- wondered how the shoulder would respond to preseason camp collisions.

So far, so good.

"I got that out of the way in the first scrimmage," Berry said. "Montario (Hardesty) went on a long run and I tackled him. I kind of held my breath and closed my eyes on it and was like, 'Please be all right.' I got up fine -- the shoulder was intact -- and just ran back to the huddle.

"All the pre-hit butterflies and things like that are out the window. I'm ready to go."

Berry has been pulled early from every full-contact major scrimmage, but he hasn't seemed tentative in those brief windows.

"He's always flying around, laughing and joking and disguising coverages," quarterback Jonathan Crompton said. "I didn't see any difference in him."

Added Hardesty: "He looks like E.B. to me."

First-year head coach Lane Kiffin said Tuesday he's "100 percent" confident with Berry's health situation.

"We're not worried about it," Kiffin said. "Eric has played so well for two years, and that really is not a concern, him being physical. We know that's going to be the case.

"He's had a great camp. He's been all over the place. We're going to move him around to a bunch of different places on Saturdays, and I'm excited to see him play."

Kiffin's father, the Vols' defensive coordinator, said this summer that he'd "be crazy" not to have Berry playing "as much as possible and move him around as much as possible."

yeah, getting Bray is HUGE

Quote :
"After months of speculation and debate, Tennessee finally has its quarterback for the 2010 recruiting class. Four-star signal-caller and Kingburg, Calif., native Tyler Bray made things official on Tuesday morning when he de-committed from San Diego State and gave his verbal pledge to Lane Kiffin and the Vols.

"SEC is the big powerhouse for football," Bray said. "Tennessee football is religion. You can't really beat that. It was all fun. It was crazy. I don't think I could pick one highlight (from his weekend visit to the Vols' opener). If I had to pick one it would be running through the 'T.' Seeing coach (Ed) Orgeron getting the team pumped up gave me chills. It was awesome."

The Vols staff did an excellent job of displaying their product over the weekend, but Kiffin and crew can thank the orange-clad faithful for an assist. The Tennessee fans really helped push the Vols over the top with their dedication to the program.

"The fans," Bray said. "The people eat, breath, and sleep football at Tennessee. That's the way I am and that's what I want to be around. I don't know how many times that I walked around and people were yelling at me that they needed me. It was nuts."

And when Bray finally told the Volunteer staff that he would be spending the next four or five years with them, they were naturally pretty pleased.

"(Kiffin) was excited," Bray said. "They were all excited. Coach (Ed) Orgeron, coach (David) Reaves, they were all pumped, and so am I."

Now Bray turns his attention to the classroom where he hopes to finish Kingsburg High School in December and enroll at Tennessee in January. He knows that is key to him seeing playing time in the fall of 2010.

"It's big," Bray said of becoming a mid-term enrollee. "The biggest thing is getting big enough to play right away and learning the offense. The SEC is all about big hits and I'm at 200 (pounds), but I want to get to 220 by next fall. I'm trying to get that big this fall, but definitely by next fall."

While Bray travelled back to California on Sunday, his father stayed behind to look at the possibility of moving the entire Bray family to Knoxville once Tyler graduates high school.

"They want to be able to watch me play," Bray said. "My family loves football. They aren't going to send me out here just to watch football. They want to watch."

The entire Bray family was blown away by the weekend in Knoxville and that's a big reason Tyler made a quick decision once he arrived back in the Golden State.

"My parents were in shock," Bray said. "Football in California is a lot different. Football isn't a religion out here. It's huge down there. They could not believe how things were there. They loved it."

Bray has been back in school for almost a month. He hasn't played his first football game yet, but his season begins this Friday. Getting the decision over with before the season begins is huge for not only Bray, but his coach and team.

"I can set down and concentrate on my senior year," Bray said. "I don't want to have to think about recruiting again. I want to have a big year and get focused on football."

Bray was recruited by Tennessee commitment Markeith Ambles over the past few weeks and now Bray says he'll join Ambles on the recruiting trail.

"Whatever I can do to help," Bray said. "That's what I'm going to do."

Rivals.com rates Bray as a 4-star quarterback in the class of 2010 and the No. 6 pro-style quarterback."

jaybee, woodson can just do it all can't he???

http://www.freep.com/article/20090909/SPORTS06/90909099/1054/Sports06/Ex-U-M-star-Woodson-ready-if-Pack-needs-a-QB

gosh what a gifted football player...

and im just playing around here, my intention is definitely NOT to reopen the eric berry/charles woodson debate. but you KNOW when i saw this article i knew exactly what i was going to do with it

Quote :
"Ex-U-M star Woodson ready if Pack needs a QB

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Should something happen to Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and backup Matt Flynn, veteran cornerback Charles Woodson says he’s willing to play quarterback in a pinch this season.

Woodson insists he can do it, touting his ability to run out of the wildcat formation and throw a few tight — if short — spirals to his receivers.

Says Woodson: “I’m in the bullpen. I’m warming up. Absolutely.”

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday the team is still discussing its emergency options.

The Packers cut No. 3 quarterback Brian Brohm and signed him to the practice squad. Receiver Ruvell Martin was an emergency option in the past, but the Packers cut him."

UT picked up another 4 star player yesterday.

Quote :
"KNOXVILLE -- In Tennessee's 63-7 win over Western Kentucky, 10 true freshmen played significantly, including Marsalis Teague, who started at wide receiver.

Of the 10 who played, eight either caught a pass, had a carry or made a tackle. It's something everyone took notice of, and it's the main reason (along with UT assistant coach Eddie Gran) that Miami's Ted Meline is the newest Vol.

The 6-foot-2, 171-pound athlete gave Gran and the staff the word just after the Vols got off the practice field Wednesday night.

"They were all excited," said Meline, who stars for Miami North High School. "Coach Gran said he was jumping up and down and he passed around the phone to the whole staff. I talked to everyone and they can't wait for me to get up there."

"Coach Gran and I have a great relationship," Meline said. "When we talk, it's about real life. It's about my academics and it's about the chance that I can play early up there.

"I watched them on TV Saturday and they played a lot of freshmen early in the game. I liked the way they move the ball on offense and I like how they play on defense."

Meline said seeing the freshmen play was huge for him in making a decision.

"It's a big deal," Meline said. "What Coach Kiffin is doing is good. It lets me know that if I am the best, then I am going to play. It's up to me to be the best. I wasn't really close to committing till I watched the game, and the more I watched, the more it felt right. I talked to my mom and dad and they said go for it."

Meline, who has never been to Knoxville, will make his official visit to Tennessee on October 30. He chose Tennessee over Georgia, Oregon and Purdue among others.

"It feels good to have made a decision. I can't wait to get up there for a game and see it all," Meline said. "Coach Gran tells me how special it is up there."

As a receiver, Meline models his game after players like Ted Ginn, and Dez Bryant, but where he plays at Tennessee is up in the air.

"Tennessee is recruiting me as an athlete," Meline said. "I like playing defensive back, but receiver has kind of been my thing. I think they want to use me a lot of different ways.""

for those UT fans that remember Jesse Mahelona....

http://www.jessestrust.com/

Quote :
"Knoxville, TN - Chad Speck, the agent for Jesse Mahelona, has announced that the Jesse Mahelona Trust has been established to help support Jesse's pregnant widow Brandee and the couple's infant daughter Karter. Mahelona, 26, was killed in an automobile accident on Saturday, September 5th in his native town of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Mahelona played two years at the University of Tennessee after transferring from Orange Coast College in California. He was named a Sporting News All-American and All SEC after the Volunteers' 2004 campaign. Mahelona had a brief NFL career that included stops with the Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars."

Tennessee is a 10-point favorite, which in my mind is kind of crazy. I think UT can win by 10, but just with what happened to both teams last season, I think 10 is a little high.

With that said, I think a lot of it might be based on UCLA having a redshirt freshman QB. And being that he said "I think the toughest environment I have ever played in was a venue that held 6,000 people so this is going to be a little different," I think it could get ugly on that end.

It's going to be rowdy, and it will be tough for UCLA. The last time a California team came to town, Nate Longshore said this: "It's a static noise...You can't hear anything... You go up and down the line and your running backs can't hear, your wide receivers can't hear, your tight ends can't hear. Nobody can hear. Nobody."

And this game will probably be even louder, I think.

should be very loud... I have no idea what to expect score wise. UCLA has some talent on defense definitely and I could easily see Crompton shitting the bed if it comes down to him having to win the game... hopefully Hardesty/Brown can control the game
