The only time my dogs get in the car is when I take them to the vet once a year. So needless to say, they are not fans of riding in the car.

My dog loves riding in the car....even after he fucking fell out the other day on the way to the dog park. We had just gotten to the park and were driving to the parking lot when a car darted out in front of us and I had to slam on brakes. He was so excited to be at the park that he was already hanging half out the window and fell out and basically did a flip and landed on his face...scraping his nose and chin really bad. He just jumped right back in and was like..."alright...lets do this already." Tough kid.

My pointer mix especially hates the car. He had a major knee surgery a couple years ago, and had issues with the healing process for about 6 months. So we were back and forth to the vet at least once a week, and each time he had to endure some pretty serious pain at the vet. Now whenever he has to get in the car he shakes like crazy the whole trip. He used to just jump in the back, now I have to physically pick him up and put him in there. I feel kinda bad for the dude, but I'm like "would you rather I hadn't fixed your knee and just let you be a gimp the rest of your life?"

That sucks. My dog actually won't get out of the car when we come back from the beach because he knows he's going to get a bath/hosed down. He HATES getting hosed down (but will swim a hundred yards into a lake...go figure).

I second Klaty. If we ever get a 3rd dog I will reach out to you for contact info on your breeder.

But yeah, both of my dogs are the same way (Pointer mix, black lab). Get them near water and they'll swim all damn day. Pull out the hose for a bath and they cry like little bitches.

The black lab always gets the last laugh though. We'll give him a bath then put him back in the yard. As soon as the gate closes he finds the nearest pile of dirt and rolls around in it for a half hour.
