No reason to doubt they got their guy, but the first thing that springs to mind in defense of that action is unfortunately the response a conspiracy theorist would take to their grave... that dumping the body in the sea as quickly as possible means no one will be able to verify the kill. You'd have to take their word for it - which some people will never do.

And as good as this news is I still get a little sick inside when I hear the USA chants. I found out about this news on 99.9 this morning, so the way I found out was via them reporting on the USA chants at the Phillies game. I'm not trying to defend bin Laden or to minimize the significance of his death but there's something about chanting USA as a way of celebrating the news that's kinda off-putting. I flipped the station over to NPR and there it was again. Reporting live from ground zero where people were chanting USA.

Probably just me that thinks those chants aren't doing anything for our image.

Yeah it's really disconcerting how stupid people can be. Americans celebrating yet more death while they cannibalize each other and the country crumbles around them, heh.
