I feel like it limits them since they have to continue with the story. Episode one should have been nothing but national anthem kneeling jokes instead of just a few scenes and a continuation of the previous season.

I think the continuity was a nice change of pace for a few seasons but they shouldn't feel obligated to make it continue because it does limit what they can do on a week to week basis.

I do like the trilogy stories though like Black Friday and Imagination Land. More of them wouldn't be bad if they want to continue the story for more than 1 week.

This season was just terrible overall. It felt like a single episode worth of jokes spread across an entire season. There was just so much opportunity for political humor to drive the season, and it was wasted except for that one debate.

We received no resolution regarding the Member Berries and their crazy plans.
We received no resolution for why Cartman changed at the beginning of the season.
Or why Hillary Clinton sent Gerald to Denmark in the first place.

Just bad.

^Agreed! Some episodes weren't funny at all and seemed to be nothing but a time filler between last weeks episode and next weeks episode. They really missed a great opportunity to make fun of all the national anthem drama. The start of the season was great with the volleyball game scene, but then the story kind of drifted away from that. In the old days it would have been an entire half hour dedicated to making fun of the anthem kneelers. Instead, they carried on with the previous season's story.

^I get it, but the format wasn't as funny. Internet trolling should have been its own stand alone episode, or trilogy. They should have had a stand alone episode about national anthem kneelers. They needed to make 10 episodes, so I guess they could have done another one about the exploding cell phone if they began to run out of material. A stand alone episode about shooting cops could have been done. They could have even done an episode in honor of the Cubs winning the World Series. That's just a few events that I thought of off the top of my head.

The problem was that too much revolved around trolling and going after Denmark. They started reusing the same jokes and plot-points each time they had a conflict. The middle 4-5 episodes really just blurred together and are nearly indistinguishable in retrospect. Making it a trilogy would have been better.

I am not completely against the full season arcs; I just think they did a terrible job this time around. Two seasons ago was great because all of the episodes were basically standalone but lead into one another with a meta episode at the end. Last season was also good; many episodes were still relatively standalone (until later in the season), and they simply built upon one another (aka the presence of Sodo So Pa and Whole Foods). This season was just one shitty, long episode.

my appreciation of south park is that they mock everyone...liberals, conservatives, hippies, PC social justice warriors, celebrities, politicians, jews, Catholics, mormons, scientology, gays, straights, trannies, rednecks, blacks, even the sacred cows of muslims. South Park (Trey and Matt) didnt give a fuck, and they are legitimately funny.

In an age where free speech=hate speech, its nice to still see these guys really not give a fuck about caving into PC pressure. I recall the good old days of my youth when you could still make offensive jokes and humor and people werent such sensitive snowflake pussies all the damn time.
