We played with a lot of intensity tonight and made some great offensive plays against what is a very good defensive team. And we rebounded really well against a team that usually covers the defensive glass.

Definitely more effort exerted tonight than I've seen us give all year. Diving for loose balls, going after rebounds aggressively, etc.

We're still not a smart defensive team and I worry about us burning out since we've basically become a 6 man rotation now.

I'd like to see us utilize zone more in the first half so we can steal minutes with Vandy and keep our bigs out of foul trouble and not wear ourselves out.

I think we're going to have trouble playing so few guys against teams like UNC who push the pace.

Nice win, they woke up in the second half. Need the intensity for the entire game against Duke

This is the type of finish good teams have. GA Tech played tight, but I think this was a full game of effort. We would have folded under the pressure in the past.

9 wins in a row, 13-2 overall, 2-0 in conference, covers the spread

face still says we are a bubble team who isnt very good

i really believe that this team is old enough to get focused when they have to. i'll surely give them the benefit of the doubt as long as they're winning.

BC just beat VT on the road, who beat OKST, who beat us. no shame from that BC game where there were also some crap calls at the end that kept it close

They mentioned a stat that along with 50+% shooting, we rebound 38% of our misses. That's pretty damn good.

I'm just happy Gotti whipped out team into game shape. The team from two years ago would have been too tired too keep playing, methinks

Well we are still on the bubble.

We're ranked #35 now but prior to tonight our recent efforts showed we weren't playing at the level of even a top 50 team.

Being that we returned nearly all of our key players it was fair to assume we'd start the season with an advantage and that other teams would begin to catch up with us as the season went on. I don't think anyone expected them to catch up so quickly or have so many teams zoom past us.

We'll have a much better idea after these next two games if we've just been half assing it all season or if this team just doesn't have it.

I'm praying we right the ship, we all had a lot of hopes this season. Tonight was certainly a good sign, it's the hardest we've played all season. When we pick up the intensity defensively and start forcing long rebounds and turnovers it allows us to get in transition and we become an offensive juggernaut.

while i dont disagree with a strategy to keep CJello and HowNowBrownCow out of foul trouble, if you've watched the games instead of jacking it to kenpom, we've had CalvinDoggyDogLion and DickShamwowHowellTowel play the same stand-like-a-statue-and-dont-be-agressive defense to avoid early foul trouble to wisely keep them available in the 2nd half...so I don't really see how TBDV allowing the same shots is gonna help too much

lol at thinking kenpom has already updated...they havent factored in this game yet face, pomeroy is only updated through tuesday games

GT is a top 10 defense in the country and we shot over 50% on them while putting up 83 points. That is absolutely sick. Fuck anyone who criticizes the effort tonight.

the offensive rebounds per game stat is misleading because we have the best FG% in the country

It'd bedifferent if we were shooting 40% and still have the same # of offensive rebounds

So far we've found ways to win, yes. But some of that is good fortune as well. It's hard to quantify the randomness of the world.

We are ranked #63 in the country in luck right now though.

I agree the NCAA does not factor kenpom into their tournament brackets, but obviously it's a better metric for how good a team is and a significantly better predictor of year end records, future spreads, etc than you could ever get from looking at something simple and misleading like RPI and AP/Coaches polls.

We're #131 in offensive rebounding percentage and #274 in defensive rebounding percentage. Nothing misleading about that, we just suck at rebounding.

I love being ranked and having high expectations, but holy shit it makes these tight games against unranked opponents stressful. The first 30 minutes were a mess. Big time finish from Zo, Wood, and co.

I love this team, but they're going to kill me. At least we'll be underdogs on Saturday.

I am going to be the first person to disagree with FACE and say this team is better than bubble. When you start the season ranked in the top 10, fans expect to see you blow out most competition. Our offense is about as good as you can ever want, its our defense that needs work. I think a zone would be best, however, I get the impression the coaches think that would slow down our transition offense. Either way, if we get good on defense, I think by season's end this team will have a solid seeding in the tournament. I think we start slow every game because we know that if our interior defense gets in foul trouble, we will have a very difficult time winning, so we tend to give up a lot of easy looks in the first half, which would explain why it is always a tale of 2 halves. We still have work to do, but I am very optimistic about this season.

i wonder how face figured the Maryland game was a probably loss when Maryland was ranked (going into today) 13 spots lower to us in Ken Pomeroy's holy bible

also UMD's loss wasn't that surprising, thats what happens when your last 15 games' best opponent is Northwestern

Great finish tonight for the team. Wood playing like a true senior the past 2 games in clutch time. We got hosed on 3 different charge calls tonight which was bullshit by the refs. We should get at least one of those 50-50 calls.

Lol at maryland. FSU trying save their season.

i'm well aware of what playing at maryland entails...that our team will have hundreds of f-bomb chants dropped on them

fact is, Maryland isn't a very good team, they're not even a bubble team according to kenpom which is all that matters

LOL, we play well for 10 minutes for the first time in 6 games and everyone thinks we're going 15-3 again. We'll see warlocks.

What did I have us going, 12-6? I think I'm looking better than most for sure.

Definitely nice to finally get things going tonight. Just enjoy the win guys, you're going to have to sulk in losses soon.
