I would assume Gott and the guys would have researched it to some degree to certify he's clear. I mean, if the bank account hasnt been touched, that's easy to verify. However, my guess is he wont get cleared until about halfway thorough the season.

Either that, or we get a lifetime ban.

yeah i don't think we'd have pursued him if it was obvious he didn't have a chance of getting cleared. then again, i guess it's all on the word of Yurtseven and his parents that he didn't actually touch the money. Gott can't really demand to see any kinda bank statements. but from what has been reported, it does seem like he's got a really strong case to be eligible.

yeah, I had a feeling "qualify" wasn't the correct term, i guess the proper terminology is "ruled ineligible". While I'm sure Gott did some research, it's my understanding that a lot of teams didn't pursue him, I assume because they had concerns about this and thought it would be too much trouble and too risky?

Put-up or shut-up season for Coach Godfrey. A couple miracle Sweet 16s isn't gonna cut it here in Wolfpacker country. We won a title 33 years ago, bo. That means a lot in these parts, and should mean a lot to every recruit in the country.

the recruiting argument won't work anymore. we've had so much talent come through here the last few years. Duke is really the only team in the conference consistently and decisively out-recruiting us. We have been pretty close to unc and louisville talent wise and well above better-performing teams like virginia, notre dame, miami, clemson and virginia tech. All I ask is that we perform to our talent level for a season...eventually?

I know we differ in schools of thought so I will reiterate that I am not impressed by ONLY showing up to the first weekend of the ncaa tournament and nothing else before or after. Some people are content with taking top 5 talent and squeezing into the tournament as long as there is a chance to make it to the 2nd weekend. Agree to disagree.

i think one of the stingy-est things that happened was when jim larranaga showed up and ran his team to the ACC championship in 2013. Miami was in the big east and then showed up in the ACC one day. Then they hired up Jim Larranaga. He's definitely one of the best coaches in the NCAA right now. All of a sudden, he led a colossal miami squad to bulldoze tobacco road to an ACC chip.
