Look basketball is 95% about your offensive efficiency and your defensive efficiency so to say that they don't matter is simply incorrect.

How often you score and how often you allow your opponent to score absolutely affects the outcome of each game.

The other factors that everyone loves to talk about like "focus", "heart", etc are really mostly random noise in the data.

Can't get mad we ALL woulda taken a 3-1 start against @BC,GT, Duke, @Maryland.

We really should be 2-2 right now so we're still playing with house money right now.

We just need to get a lot better. We're still playing more at the level of a bubble team than a top team, but we have a solid resume at the moment that gives us a little margin for error.

We still have time to figure out how to play better defense. Also, Purvis has got to become a contributor if we're going to become a top team

You know you're a decent team when you shoot 31%, barely 50% from the line, and the other team needs a buzzer beater to get the dub. there's no excuse for losing that one though. Total lack of focus out of the gate and a TON of bad shots. I swear, one more Leslie jumper with his heel on he 3 pt line and I'm going to gouge my eyes out!

He's been fine with drawing fouls up to this game (he still had 8 FTs)...but that was mostly due to going up against a 7-footer. He can get over most opposing defenders, but Len is tall and long as fuck. Tough match-up for Calvin.

am i a fairweather fan going crazy after just 1 loss? you better believe it. i think everyone should be. this team should have to earn back what has been the greatest unconditional fanbase for a longggg time.

25 years of this shit... of this program never wanting to turn that corner. it's not all on this year's team, but it happens to be this year's team where it is reaching at least my personal breaking point.

After the game yesterday, we can project the team to go unbeaten or lose at max 1 game at home in ACC play. But end up going 4-5 or 5-4 away. Not enough for the regular season title.

No I still think we will make the tournament, but nothing is set in stone yet. The duke win was huge for our resume and seeding though obviously.

I'm thinking a 5-6 seed is still well within reach, but we will have to improve to get there obviously.

the idea of not making the tournament at this point, is laughable. we'd have to lose every game for the rest of the season which won't happen. right now the conversation should be geared more toward which seed we will end up being which can only be improved at this point by:

winning at cameron indoor (lol)

pick up another quality win by beating miami (doable, helps it's a home game)

showing up in the ACCT and making it to the finals

I am trying to convince myself that last night was just an anomaly. Yes Maryland was a bad matchup for us and we could not get much in the paint, but honestly Wood missed numerous shots that on most nights he is going to make. Plus Purvis and Warren were off all game too. It'll be rare to have all 3 having subpar performances during the same game.

Let's see how we respond on Sunday before we go and write off the season. Clemson plays decent defense so we'll find out if our offense truly is what we thought it was.

^ It wasn't really an anomaly though, we played at pretty close to the level we've played at all season really. Worse offensively and better defensively. But a one point loser @Maryland just like our power rating predicted we would.
