I have my wii hooked to my HDTV with composite cables. then I have an optical going from the TV to my surround sound receiver.
that's how I get that sounds on the wii since it doesn't have HDMI support

I didn't read the entire thread but does anyone with the old ps3 have a lot of experience using linux on it?

what kind of pc programs could you run effictively? is it worth it if you get the keyboard/mouse?

^back in the day, the only reason I ever contemplated putting linux on my ps3 was to be able to play .AVI files, but with a firmware update from 2008 sometime you can do that now anyway, so I dont really know if its worth it to fuck with it, but someone on here probably knows of a reason why it would be cool.

My wife just got me a 120gb PS3 slim for my birthday
I'm mostly aware of the current newer stuff like Infamous and God of War 3, and I'm also looking forward to The Last Guardian since Shadow of the Collosus and Ico were great. But since I wasn't in the conversation before I don't really know which past ones were fun, any suggestions would be good. Mine came with little big planet and Ratchet and Clank, so far I've mostly been playing LBP since I love sandbox games.

I'd doubt it. The reason they had BC is because they thought the PS3 was going to sell like gangbusters, but since it hasn't and they are still losing money on each console, the only way to get for them back to profitability is to get people buying PS3 games. That's why they got rid of it.

Downloaded a bunch of demos and watched The Dark Knight blue-ray last night. Looks good, but having to install and wait for each demo after a download is annoying. I am trying to only download PS3 exclusives to see what I have been missing.

I've only tried Little Big Planet so far and it is ok... I appreciate the physics and infinite level possibilities, but I just did not really enjoy it as much as I was hoping I would.

LBP is pretty much only fun with others, luckily it's got pretty good online co-op.

^^As far as d/ling and installing demos, you can put a whole bunch in your queue, then slide over to the left of the XMB and up to "Turn Off System". There is a checkbox there that will let you finish and install all d/l before shutting off the system. Set that, walk away for a couple hours and when you come back it's all done. Less than ideal, but it works.

got a 120 gb slim for christmas with god of war collection, uncharted 1 & 2, and metal gear solid 4. Beat God of War and Uncharted 1. I thought God of War dragged a bit but it was great. Uncharted was pretty awesome as well. Can't wait to start their respective sequels as well as MGS4.

i just noticed the Gran Turismo 5 demo and downloaded it. it has a time trial to complete at Indy with the 350Z

i hope the graphics on the real game are better than the demo. The graphics on the demo looked PS2 quality.

last week a disc was stuck in the PS3 and i had to take it apart completely to get the disc out. The threads of a cog were misaligned and the 'tray' wouldnt engage to push the disc in and out (there are plenty of youtube videos on how to fix this issue).

I fixed it, put it back together and then the disc wouldnt spin. Took it apart again, couldnt figure it out, put it back together. Everything works now, but the PS3 wont read every DVD i put it in. It reads some perfectly, and some it wont read.

So I got he heavy rain demo Friday. It's interesting and I didn't think I'd like it but prob will purchase for sure now. Although you don't actually control fighting, the investgstion part is cool and kinda reminds me of resident evil mixed with condemned

The Heavy Rain demo was better than I thought. I won't play full price for it but I'll probably pick it up at some point depending on how the reviews turn out. All depends on how the final story turns out.

God of War III, on the other hand, looks unbelievable.
