They're harmless. I'm pretty sure there's never been an attack on humans by coyotes.

I get around 200 work related emails, with about 50-75% requiring me to follow up.

My big annoyance right now. Receiving an email right before bed that keeps you up all night. I have been thinking of my response for about 5 hours now. Fucking vendors.

never look at email before bed.

Coming into work last night during the snow. I wasn't annoyed with the drive, but the other morons on the road were idiots.

I may be annoyed later if 1st cant make it in on time because they live out in the country.

My co-worker has turned into a complete bitch. I'm getting really tired of her micro-managing and childish behaviour. She has the worst time-management skills, so she ends up eating lunch everyday at like 4:00. And even though all of our department has about the same amount of work, she's always just "busier" than we are.

getting a schedule 6 months ago of all trainings/meetings then getting a reminder after the new year to not forget what's coming up - and half the events have changed times or new things have been added that are coming up within a few days. thanks for letting us know ahead of time guys, keep up the good work.

I'm sure it's been listed before but nothing gets me out of the office quicker than someone heating up tuna for lunch.

One of our co-workers somehow deleted not one but two documents of notes from the last two years. Here's his verbatim explanation:

Quote :
"So, as you may have noticed I seemed to have accidentally deleted the pass down log. I’m not entirely sure how I did that, but neither one seems to be there anymore. Sorry."

Really!?!? FUCKING REALLY?!?!?! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!

What are these people eating that includes hot tuna? Do you have an office full of tuna casserole enthusiasts? Only other thing I can think of really is tuna melts and you can't reheat one of those.

^Was this important document not backed up anywhere?

^Yesterday it was some type of pasta noodles that I swear had tuna in it. May not have been though, I didn't stick around long enough to find out.

I sit down in the john at work and I become the most needed guy there. Cell phone starts ringing, I can hear the office chick calling for me because she has a question or I have a call on the office phone as well, etc.

Our computers are slow as balls. They have perfectly fine hardware configurations that are more than adequate for our tasks, but they have Checkpoint disk encryption installed on them, so ANYTHING that involves the disk (read: damned near everything) takes forever.

Downloading our source code from the repository that is roughly 200MB? Takes 10-15 minutes.
Want to update your source code? At least 5 minutes, no matter what.
Want to build your project? You can expect that to take 10 minutes, too.
Oh shit, didn't quite get the right build into the program you want to test? That's another 10 minutes, buddy.
Just opening Notepad can take freaking two minutes. Not opening a random file in notepad. Just. Opening. Notepad.
And this is all if you've been lucky enough to have the DiskKeeper service turned off so that it's not constantly defragging your HD, thereby bring the system to a complete halt as it has to contend with the disk encryption.
Doing all of this on a VM without checkpoint takes 30s to a minute, tops, for all of these actions.

Oh god, I had one of those at my last job. Soup every day, slurping it the whole time. I had to leave whenever he ate lunch, cause I couldn't take it. Oh, and he slurped his coffee, tea, and water, too.

Self appointed comedic geniuses at the monthly birthday celebrations...

People who sing the happy birthday song and try to cram 3-10 peoples names in at the end instead of just saying "happy birthday dear everyone". Then guffaw-laughing like you think you are fucking hilarious and original. Its a bit old after the 50th time.

We are moving from the 3rd floor to the 2nd floor. This has been known for a while now, but just found out today where we are going. Our whole section will be spread out in one area of the 2nd floor, with most of the offices right beside the canteen. If you're trying to watch what you eat, this is the worst place to be since they like to cook fatty breakfast foods and cookies every day.

"You're a chemical engineer, so you must know every chemical in existence! Why don't you wizard up a chemical to remove this CARC paint!"

(CARC stands for Chemical Agent Resistant Coating.)

Google is my good friend, but god damn these chemical questions are annoying. I'm an engineer, not a chemist!

Get an email from our users today saying something isn't working right. So I'm looking through audit tables and log files on my end and having a server-side person look through the logs on her end (for the server processes she writes and maintains). We're communicating at the time over email, btw. She ends up telling me that she doesn't see anything relevant in the logs for today, so I ask her to check the logs from Friday to today, as well. She emails me the following: "sure. Where would I find the archived logs?"

I immediately asked someone to take away my keyboard and mouse so I couldn't reply.

Five minutes later my boss reads her email and yells "YOU'VE GOTTA BE SHITTING ME!!!"

Fucking masters degree in engineering and has no idea how to use the damn basic scientific process to run experiments. No wonder the company is having to resort to micromanaging you.

Oh, and this passive-aggressive work stoppage until someone makes a work order is bullshit.

Top management made decision to pull the plug on a project with no business future that was wasting time and pulling development away from pressing, commercial needs.

Middle management found out and is going to try and make us go back and redo the runs and continue development on this dead-end program.

We have a meeting later about production scheduling, so this shit should be good. I'm gonna steer the meeting straight into it too

Coworker got fired a few months ago after his work performance had tanked for like the last two years. He claimed to have been going through a ton of shit in his personal life, but he was usually late, fell asleep at work, would disappear for long periods of time, etc. He was disgruntled and mad at our bosses about the way he was fired and filed all sorts of grievances against our manager and boss (he had said he was going to if he ever got fired). Then to get at the bosses, he accuses our department of all sorts of illegal shit, saying the boss let us get away with it but didn't let him get by with stuff because of a personal vendetta. Personally named everybody on the team and made accusations against each of. We had to be investigated by higher ups, and were subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing.

Now after attempting to throw us under the bus, I and two other members of my team got an email from him last week asking for us to come to a grievance hearing to trash our boss. Hahaha! Fuck you buddy.

bwhahaha. thats hilarious that he wants you guys to burn your bridges and employment. wtf is he thinking.

one of my biggest pet peeves is people bombarding me with shit before I even sit down at my desk in the mornings. b/c of my work i come in usually an hour or so later than the rest of these folks but i work 12-13 hour days.

today was another day that some asshole just couldnt wait for me even to log onto my work station and met me walking down the hall to discuss some low priority bull shit. fuck off and let me take a piss and grab some coffee. at least give me time to set my shit down.

^Sorry, won't happen again.

^^It seems like the people that are the most deserving of being fired are always the first to want to file a wrongful termination suit. The court that handles that crap must be exhausting... or entertaining.

I work with a dude that just isn't "all there". He says weird shit, makes the same mistakes over and over again, and asks stupid questions. He asks me yesterday to "talk to him later about stuff". I'm thinking he's having issues with his wife (he's asked me stuff about her before, to which my response is "I'm 24, I don't have a wife, figure this shit out on your own"). It turns out he found another job. He told me (his coworker, not his supervisor) so I could give him more stuff to do. He told me his last day would be Thursday (we get paid at the end of the month). He also said he's only going to tell me that he is leaving because "I don't really care about those other people (meaning our superiors)"

He asked for my word not to tell anyone prior to the conversation. What should I do? I can easily absorb 75% of his work no problem at all, but eventually, if he follows through and avoids everyone that day, I'll be the one telling people he will quit. It's cowardly and messed up.
