My office's network policy now completely blocks tumblr. Listed as Categorization: Sex/Adult Material.

Um, that's not all it's for. The particular blog I was trying to look at is about vintage cars, forchristssake. (Yes, not work-related, but... )

My boss doesnt come in till noon and half the days says dont bother him for 30 minutes and then the other half is pissed when he sits down and asks why I havent told him about this or that already when he has been here for less than 2 minutes...

Why do you have to tell anyone anything?

And my current annoyance is this asshole about 10ft away who thinks his desk is a fucking drumkit.

Passing around sympathy cards to sign. Not that I don't mind it, but seems like one goes around every two weeks for something.

I'm on a bus going to an appointment and this crazy lady is sitting next to me knitting.

There are so many open seats and I'm fucking trapped.

A few days ago, I liked someone's post on LinkedIn from a discussion I started in 2011 (the subject just came up at work recently).

Homeboy is in Denver but apparently a salesguy of a national brand. Next thing I know, I have some random-ass guy from a random-ass company (guessing regional office in Charlotte) calling my office line and today he showed up at the office and left a brochure.

I didn't answer the phone and was away from my desk when he visited, but damn dude, stalk much?

^ I can't stand LinkedIn for that reason. Too many people on there have WAY too little knowledge on networking and sales to make that a beneficial tool for me.

-coworker lamenting over the assembly method of a set of components....which are bought pre-fucking-assembled as a unit, and will be listed in the BOM as such.

- a manager getting upset at me for asking about a situation, which my only knowledge of said situation was an ambiguous email I received this morning. I asked what was going on, and got an earful about how manager 'was actually "doing" his job'

I remotely connect to the server at my company. My connection broke last week, I fixed it, and it broke again. I emailed the help desk to figure out what's going on yesterday morning and haven't heard anything yet. So I can't actually do work.

Hey hey, it's March! Time for fucking everything in the world to happen/be due. I have 5 reviews to write by tomorrow, we have a group visit tomorrow, next week I have pay grade interview prep (which means all of my relevant paperwork has to be updated) and a district level assessment. Later this month I have a food safety training class and then my actual pay grade interview at the end of the month or beginning of April. Oh, and the other salaried person who works for me is on vacation.

That sounded like me over the past 3 days. Plus I had a doctor's appointment yesterday which took me out of the office for 3 hours. They were all WTF WHY ISN'T ANYONE HERE?

I wasn't the one that approved for my coworker to go chill at the beach for 3 days for her birthday knowing I had already scheduled to be out the office.

Orchestra teacher, 2 practices before big lacrosse game:
"hi, two of your starters are in the orchestra and they have a performance the same afternoon as your big game, and i'm going to need them to perform instead of playing in the game."

the hell. fuck that. and fuck her for notifying me hours (days) before the game instead of giving me a few weeks to consider options.

Do you really think she knows when all of your games are? Of course not. She has one, maybe two concerts a semester; you have 10-15 games a semester. Hers is a class; yours is not. There's a multitude of sports teams, and I doubt she can keep track of what all her students are in; there's only one orchestra, one band, and one drama department, and you probably knew which kids are in what.

And finally: the kids didn't fucking tell her they had a game. Don't take it out on her, take it out on your players for not telling her until a few days ago.

Having said that, it probably still sux either way.

fuck that. why should orchestra automatically take precedent over lacrosse?

still, I'd berate the players for not bringing this dilemma to my attention ASAP

because one is a class (hell, the culmination of most of the work in the class, at that) and the other isn't?

okay, class vs. no class holds some water, and if it's the only recital of the semester, that might be different. but objectively, I see no real difference between big orchestra performance and big lacrosse game.

^^^
I've never played lacrosse in my life. but I must admit that your "that sport is stupid because I don't like it" argument is very solid.

non-computer using coworkers.

- coworker plugged up printer queue with about 7 prints yesterday; tells me there's a 'glitch' with his computer and that printer, and says he checked the printer out. shook it off until I had to print something...checked the queue and his first doc had an error, so I deleted all of them and printed my shit. A few minutes later he tried to print again, and it printed. He came to my office completely surprised, and confused that his other prints didnt come out. I didnt tell him what I had done.
- Same coworker printed a word document this morning, and it came out with two additional blank pages...same story, he comes in and mentions this 'computer problem' he's having again...so I had to clarify that the document had blank pages in it so when you print-all, they all go through.

that is a lot of [mostly incorrect] assumptions. i expect better from a fellow conservative.

1. this performance is not for class credit
2. something like this requires notification
3. the orchestsra teacher AND the kids should have brought this to my attention before now.

my coworker, who's been doing this job a year more than me, constantly does not understand things. i loathe having to explain things to a person who is 20 years older than me and been doing this longer. it's really not rocket surgery.
