well crap. i finally broke down and ordered my duvet cover from west elm that i've been wanting for months.

in my defense, it is organic and $99. i mean i got the duvet cover and 2 shams for $150 and that is even less than duvet covers from like department stores cost. i looked everywhere (target, etc) and just couldn't find one i loved. and the ones at target are like $80 anyway, so i'd rather just pay the extra for something i LOVE.

and i REALLY REALLY needed it because my cats are making my white duvet dirty AND the little kitty uses her claws on it and that is just really bad. so here it is:

that is the color i got. i looked at sheets and blankets on the site but i figure i will just buy cheapo sheets and decorative pillows from target or something. i'm excited even though it was a lot of bling!!

NICE

alright i have a question.

if cody and i have a wedding. im thinking a brunch wedding. (we are debating eloping...but i doubt it)

im thinking 10ish on a saturday morning. omelet bar, waffle station, coffee with kahlua, mimosas, and bloody marys among other things.

only thing is-i dont really expect dancing, but that doesnt really bother me.

what are your thoughts?

that is definitely different (i think? or at least for me, but what do i know about weddings)

i think it sounds cool and simple. i mean its up to you ultimately so who cares.

but yum bloody mary's and waffles. brunch is awesome.

i totally agree. but im more asking to see...if you were an attendant what would you think?

or maybe do you think i will miss not having a first dance or song?

i just want to hear differing opinions.

do you think the socialization of the guests will be hindered because it will be an afternoon event?

i dont know, imjust trying to get as much input as possible

I think a brunch wedding sounds great! and your planned out drinks and menu seem like a good idea.

You could always go out dancing with some of your friends later if you really wanted to do the whole dancing thing. I know a lot of people do an after the ceremony/reception party now.

if i was an attendant i'd think it was awesome!

and you could still do a first dance. and i mean who knows - maybe people will want to dance then!! but you guys could just do a first dance if you really wanted that.

and people have weddings in the afternoon a lot (maybe not that early but i mean i've been to a pretty early wedding before cause a luncheon was after it. i can't remember what time it was at. maybe 11). the socialization of the guests at that one sucked cause there was no background music, no alcohol, and it was overall just weird. plus the bride and groom sat at a teenie tiny table up front and ate while everyone looked at them. but that was definitely the people, not the time of day!

You're buying a headboard to match your bedding? I like your style.

How much is the first one? I need a headboard, and I like that one a lot.

first one is 129.99

second is 99 (i ordered that one haha)

third is like 169 i think

they're from target so PROB not the most amazing quality but whatever. and 15% off if your order is over $125. i didn't have a headboard so i got the second one. hopefully it isn't like a huge piece and will look decent! i just don't know how i'm going to get it up my condo stairs. i hope the delivery man delivers it right outside my door!

My best friend had a brunch wedding about a year ago- It was great.

There wasnt any dancing- just the first dance and father daughter dance. They used an ipod for music to save money.

Also since it was a brunch they did it Sunday AM instead of Sat and that also saved a whole lot of money. Since they were saving in other placed the location of it was beautiful- a place that would have been way out of there 12K budget otherwise.

Only thing that stunk is they had a omelette bar and since its cook to order the line was huge... there were a few cranky guests cause they had to wait so long to eat!

Alcohol was also cheaper because people tend to drink less in the AM. They had mimosas and some beer and wine.

They did have a much bigger than normal rehearsal dinner to make up for some of the things that didnt happen at the reception- like dancing/ toasts and the like. And most people that were invited to the wedding also came to the rehearsal dinner.

its kinda drizzly today but survivable

tomorrow it is supposed to be super nasty (where i am)

i need rain boots, asap

problem: do not get out of class until 8 tonight, obviously most stores close at 9. so i need to choose only one place to go!!

where should i go to find some suitable rainboots? basically they need to be functional and not too insane (i don't want like leopard print ones) and it would be nice if they were sort of cute.

my choices: Target, DSW, Belk, Macy's, REI, Great Outdoor

I'm leaning toward DSW. Thoughts???

if anyone is thinking of getting an xbox360 for anyone for christmas WalMart is giving a $100 gift card with the purchase of the xbox360 arcade which is 199..so basically you get it for 100 which is awesome. They only advertised it for being on sale for 3 hours on saturday but it is really until Friday! most stores are sold out so you will have to spend some time making calls and might have to drive a little ways but this is a reallllyy good deal!

we also thought about a brunch wedding, but our ultimate decision to have it at 3 was how early we would have to wake up to get ready for the wedding. the whole logistics of getting ready + photographs b4 wedding w/ bridal party + photographs after wedding pretty much sealed the deal of "3 o'clock wedding it is!"

Quote :

definitely not.

your guests will feed off the energy that you and cody have the day of your wedding. if YOU two are dancing, then people will be on the dance floor to have fun with you. if you're busy walking around socializing, then that's what your guests will do.

that makes me sad because there is a pair of Dojos for $100 in my size...and in great wash

but I can't justify that purchase....

as a matter of fact I have about 6 pair of premium denim jeans that I need to sell because they are too big for me...

i second that. Brunch sounds fun, relaxed, and yummy haha. Of the weddings I have been to I feel like sooo much of the bride and groom's time is spent getting ready, formalities like the ceremony/ photos, and then entertaining guests. It seems like a brunch wedding would have the added bonus of not lasting all day and into the better half of the night, allowing you and your new husband to spend some alone time with one another before its late and yall are exhausted. Great idea Joie

joie if you don't do cook to order breakfast foods you can cut down on a long line by splitting it in two. at our wedding our caterer set up our line in a T, with the same foods on each side of the T and the drinks coming along the bottom. that way people could enter from either side and it really cut down on the time before they could sit down and eat. i like the idea of a brunch wedding just because i like breakfast food so much although i would worry about having to get up super early if you were getting your hair and makeup done. we also took a lot of pictures before the wedding (josh and i chose to see each other beforehand so it would be more intimate) and i really liked not feeling rushed to get all that done. as a guest i would totally love to come to an early wedding, it just sounds really nice and refreshing and i don't think it would cut down on mingling at all. and i don't think all weddings have to have the whole first dance, bouquet toss, etc. its YOUR wedding so you do what you want to do so its more fun for you and your guests. we chose not to do a lot of the regular wedding activities because we wanted to mingle and enjoy our guests, plus my husband does not like being the center of attention. wedding planning can be very overwhelming, good luck! oh also if you don't have a photographer, i know you said you know kc. he photographed our wedding and he was absolutely wonderful to work with. he is one of the nicest people... he even sent out parent books for free to our parents without us knowing. i cannot recommend him enough!

honestly, i didnt think those gloves were that ugly. I kind of like them. I wanted a different pair to go with my pea coats that I have (particularly a bright red 3/4 length one).

I was thinking more of something like this, but without the bow:

And I really like these, but I hate fingerless gloves:

there's a thrift store in the front of Interact, called Pass It On (they also have a HUGE store in Fuquay). I got all that just from the little store, and I saw a ton of other nice stuff, that's just all I could afford at the moment

I think they have a lot of women from around the area donate... They're right near Cameron Village if that tells you anything

Some of my shit still had tags, and all of it looked like new

So going to the big store

i hit shopping heaven today. i found a bag i lusted over earlier this summer but didnt want to spend the money on in the clearance area in belks when i went in to use some gift certificates. i was looking for it online forever without success, so i cant describe the wave of elation that hit me when i found it lurking beneath all the frumpy anne klein patent monstrosities.

it was marked down to like 95, got 90 in gift certificates. 65 of it was my own gc to my mom for custom foundation which was a big FAIL, so i stole the GC back after a year.

I was pissed when i got there, cuz i didnt have the gc. it fell out of my purse at my brothers house. but its waiting for me tomorrow!

Would anyone be interested in having another one of those clothing/jewl/shoes/purses/decor/dvd's/ANYTHING swaps? I have gotten tired of a lot of jewl and cleaned out all my jewl boxes. Also, I am cleaning out my storage room so I am sure I will find more stuff there. Let me know if you're interested. I can host again. begonias came last time and it was so fun.
