That's my fear every time I get jury duty. Getting stuck in an endless trial like this.

Your job can't fire you since it's against the law, but I'm sure it would be a strain and there would be lots of pressure. I'm sure after all this time my work would expect me to fit in 8 hours a day when court wasn't in session;like 7:00AM - 9:00AM then 5:00PM - 11:00PM, and/or weekends. Life would be hell.

Last time I sat, they told us how long the trial was expected to take and dismissed people who couldn't stay that long.

He's got bail--but it's $2million, and since his visa expired, he'd be illegal anyways, and not let out.

^And you can only recover against the state (I believe) if you are wrongfully convicted.

i think you have to show some type of negligence or action to show they deprived you of your civil rights to have a case, which he might be able to do depending on what the offer of proof shows later
