I hope this shit doesn't freeze on the roads tonight. I have to drive to Cary from Carrboro bright and early in the morning.

What about sea roads? I usually take one if by land and two if by sea.

if you are travelling on sea roads between cary and carrboro you have bigger problems than ice and snow

this is the exact same storm we've had for the past 2 years. Feb 2016, jan 2017 and now dec 2017. The line between snow and no snow is basically identical.

It's always this way...has to do with the way the coast of NC and SC run diagonally and the buffer the ocean creates paired with the mountains.

I've heard it's going to be cold enough on Dec 24th and might have precip. anyone with knowledge?

But sky roads are a reasonable option?

^^^^Damn does everyone on TWW live in Carrboro?

^^I hope not. That's going to ruin my travel plans.

I was driving in Carrboro at 2 am. Can confirm, your sky roads are clear, but sea roads may be icy.

you know what really grinds my gears? dumbasses on facebook who routinely post on WRAL weather posts asking about forecasts on their street / in their town. CAN YOU NOT LOOK AT A FUCKING MAP SHITWADS?

^to be honest, they probably cant. I know lots of people that ive worked with in the past when i was younger that would be in the 50 year old range that get on facebook that cant find NC on a non labeled map of the US. Its quite sad how dumb the general population of this country is

That does bug the shit out of me as well and why I've made sure my kids know how to find where we live on the fucking map.

The forecast will say "In the Triangle region, we are looking at...." with a big fucking map of central NC and the first comment will be, "I live in Apex, what should I expect?" People either don't actually click and read the story or are just spatially illiterate and can't find a location on the map. Its pretty fucking ridiculous.

it's laziness mostly. people would rather ask directly what to expect in Apex than to do even a minimal amount of critical thinking.

From Fishel's Twitter this morning

Remember two weeks ago when we said the pattern was all wrong for a significant winter storm in Raleigh? Well you know what happened-next to nothing. Later this week whole different ballgame. Very intrigued. Words of caution: it’s early, and ice not snow could win the day.

Not surprised that all the snow is gone, we keep missing out on a decent snow. Maybe in 2018.

So what's the deal with the first week in January though? I saw early Euro models that showed some significant stuff coming that week.

So there was plenty of moisture with no cold air and now there is no moisture with plenty of cold air.

Typical.
