anybody had problems with their sensor before? mines always felt a bit off, so we trouble shooted today some. put in a friends sensor and it was a lot more on target. can i get replacements or what? anyone done that before?
i heard you can just use candles...anyone actually tried that? i assume it would just be easier to have a sensor instead of lighting candles all the time though lozl. 4/28/2008 2:21:54 AM |

I bought cheap HD cables for the wii and ended up switching back, the colors were brighter I guess, but there were blocky areas of the screen that did not show up right occasionally... Plus having 480i or 480p stretched 56 inches also does not help. The old cables will have to do

^^ What do you mean when you say "off target?" It's not really doing anything but putting out some IR.
Try closing the blinds on windows in the same room during the day.
Also, if for some reason it is the "sensor" bar, Nyko makes a wireless one that works well. 4/28/2008 10:44:31 AM |
ohmy All American 3875 Posts user info edit post |
^yeah i think the IR outputs are misaligned or something inside. i donno. but i will point at the tv, for example, and the on screen cursor is like 6 inches below where i'm pointing.
so last night....we pointed at the screen with a controller...and switched my crappy sensor with a friend's, holding the controller still, and pointing at the screen. when we switch the good sensor in, the on screen pointer instantly moves up 6 inches to where we are actually pointing. then when i switch the crappy sensor back in, the cursor moves back down, 6 inches below where it should be.
before we tried that little experiment, i always felt the wii just had a crappy detection system or something. and then my friends who had played other wiis said that mine sucked. so we tested it, and its the sensor bar. (i know it doesnt sense anything, but that's what they call it) 4/28/2008 1:35:41 PM |

obvious question from reading that: Do you have the wii settings correct for the sensor being above or below the tv. I would assume so if you put the 2nd sensor in the same as the first. 4/28/2008 1:51:36 PM |
ohmy All American 3875 Posts user info edit post |
yeah. we did.
another question....any reason i shouldn't get the wii charging station? any of yall have that? ive read a few reviews and it sounds like it'd save some money and a lot of effort in the long run.

I have rechargeable batteries (got them before the actual chargers for the Wiimotes came out) and they work fine... the only real difference is that you would be able to use rechargeable batteries on other things. 4/28/2008 2:20:28 PM |

^^I have the Nyko 2 port charging station and I love the thing. Just if I ever see my batteries are getting low I just put the wiimote on that thing for the night and it's good to go for a few more days. Only downside is if you like using the clear glove thing they gave out for free, you would have to take it off to charge the wiimote just because of the way its made. 4/28/2008 2:58:04 PM |
ohmy All American 3875 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, i dont really care about the glove.
and rechargeable batteries theoretically would achieve the same purpose, but i've noticed the rechargeable batteries (that i have anyway) maintain their charge for a less amount of time after every recharge. they don't last very long at all now.
i saw on one review somewhere that two hours of charging in the dock will last for 24 hours of gameplay. that's pretty nuts if true. 4/28/2008 7:19:42 PM |

I have a cable modem and cannot get a WiFi signal in my apartment. What is my best option for hooking up my Wii to play online? Thanks for any help.

i can't get a good wireless internet signal, b/c my bldg is old and is solid concrete with other solid concrete bldgs all around. when using a labtop, it is rare that i can pick up a wireless signal.
so, yeah the LAN adapter is what i was looking into.
...and with all this said, i'm am computer/online gaming stupid, so everything i'm thinking could easily be wrong.
I have no wireless router on my pc. i have a cable modem with one ethernet port that outputs to my pc.
I was also looking into this: http://www.pricescan.com/items/item146116.asp#LongDesc

Question to all with wireless routers:
Do you really see a differenc b/w b/g and b/g/n routers with the Wii, as this is the only online gaming i'll be doing. Is it worth it to go ahead and spend the extra bucks for the "n" 5/15/2008 4:49:22 PM |

This may have been asked and answered earlier in the thread, but it seems that the search feature is not working/missing so I'm being lazy and just asking anyway
Anyway, recently I've been getting errors saying that the Wii cannot read a disc on multiple games. Some of the games I've had for as long as the Wii has been out, but I've also seen it on Mario Kart which is just a few weeks old. I have a feeling that the sensor has gone bad because all of the information I've been able to find on google just says to clean the disc and it should work. Has anyone else had this problem? I got my Wii the day it came out so its an older console and as far as I know it has the latest updates. 6/3/2008 3:39:02 PM |

Do you live with anyone that smokes? I heard that the smoke sometimes messes with it. You could try cleaning the lens (I'm sure there are walkthroughs online) but make sure you are very careful. 6/3/2008 5:21:28 PM |
LittleZZ Veteran 442 Posts user info edit post |
Any smoking that goes on in my apartment, and there isn't a lot, stays on the porch so I doubt its that. I'll look around for cleaning the lens and will contact Nintendo too and see how much they'd charge me to fix it assuming its not under warranty. How long is the warranty anyway? 6/3/2008 6:55:33 PM |
