Why do people feel the need to use quotation marks to emphasize a double entendre?

They give us too much Pto. So many half dayS this last month and I still have four weeks plus holiday junk left. I need to get motivated to work a full week so I don't blow it all before may.

I'm getting so tired of interviewing people who cop an attitude when you ask them questions about programming. We're a computer programming group, it only makes sense that we're going to ask questions to elucidate if you know how to do basic programming tasks. "I don't do well looking at code" is not a good thing to say in such an interview, and it's especially a bad thing to rebuff my attempts to get you to try anyway. Thanks for wasting my time today.

Why did somebody ask me question about how to reconcile layers in autocad? I don't care about your inability to read a help file or use google. Go fuck off and let me keep being productive.

Oh, here's one that had me biting the piss out of my tongue today. Every commit to our SVN repository requires a reference to a "requirement" in our piece of shit quality control software system. That system is such a piece of shit that it's an annoyance in its own right... Anyway, I found a bug in the code that was _really_ bad and needed to be fixed, so I fixed it and made a requirement. I know what I fixed was a bug, and I've seen its behaviour in the wild, but I don't know how to recreate it, so in the requirement, I wrote "There is no known way to replicate this behaviour". Today I get an IM from a QA guy as follows: "Hey, can you tell me how to replicate the bug in that requirement"?

No no no, see, when you get a resume you're just supposed to give somebody money and have them sit in a seat, no matter how difficult or unskilled or unwilling they are to do their assigned job.

Wait...

Maybe that's just in the gubmint?

WTF My first interview after college had me writing code on a whiteboard and I currently write code about 40 hrs a week. I wish my interviews were as simple as me having to look at code.

The person who works 2 desks away from me (we have half-height cubes so there's really no separation) has been having a conversation with a co-worker at a low whisper for literally the past 30 minutes. I *hate* the sound of whispering, it grates on my eardrums like sandpaper.

This happens frequently.

I'm about sick and tired of this other team feeding our application bad data time and time again. Do they get yelled at for giving us shitty information? Of course not. But every time they give us bogus data, our app displays the wrong information, and we take the blame for it, because we are all that the user sees. So then I get to spend thirty minutes to an hour, several times a day, researching why the application is showing the wrong shit while taking an earful from the customer about how much our product sucks. Oh, and while I'm cleaning up this other team's mess, I can't get my shit done. I'm about ready to demand a fucking charge code from these assholes and start billing them every time they fuck us over.

Half our office has a password list post-it... most of us have 4+ different login's for various things, all with varying degrees of "strength".

Best way to make an easy to remember password is to just memorize a pattern of keystrokes that involves the number row, hold the shift key down for half of it, and shift the pattern over when it expires.

Example: a q 1 s w 2 d e 3 f r 4 nice pattern on the keyboard, but hold shift key down halfway for and the password is: aq1sw2DE#FR$

I gotta say the password problem is one I don't really have. Hooray for having the ability to force your own password in the system. It would have sucked, because not only do I have several different passwords they all expire at different times.

There are 100 chairs in this conference room. I put reserved signs on six of them. Apparently that's like the apple in the Garden of Eden because I keep having to chase people away from those six chairs despite 80 other chairs being empty right now.

We have half-height cube walls so the room is basically open.

-The person behind me decides to trim their nails at their desk.
(It's not that I find it dirty, it's that the sound of *clip* *clip* *clip* is fucking irritating.)

-No sooner are they done than another person 2 desks away decides to trim *their* nails. And do the world's most thorough job--seriously they were at it for like 15 minutes. I eventually had to leave as the sound was driving me crazy.

Arrrgh.
