^^Meh, read all the comics and I actually think this is the best season pacing-wise in quite a while. It's not just sitting around concocting drama and people crying, it's them finally moving around and doing stuff and coming upon obstacles.
We finally saw a super-horde which I liked. They finally visited Abraham's story, and while they omitted some things from the comics, it was still good to see on the show.
I actually think the Daryl/Carol/Beth storyline seems forced and really seems out of place and personally wish they would have just skipped it. I understand wanting to give Daryl/Carol/Beth more meat to their story as 2 of them are fan favorites and only 1 of them even exists in the comics, but just think that whole story is pretty weak.
My only knock on this season so far has been the fact that they spent an entire season bringing the group back together, for it to last about 2 episodes even after they said they weren't splitting up anymore, haha. Perhaps that's why I hate the whole Beth storyline but at the same time I'm sure they can save money doing the filming this way though as they only have to pay the main actors for about half of the season since they're only in every other episode or two. 11/10/2014 8:39:21 AM |

Why did Abraham's family leave him? Was it because they saw him kill that guy with a can of food and were scared of him? Abraham isn't a bad guy, he was prob doing it in defense or something, it's not like he was murdering him. That's just the kind of world they live in now.
LOL at Eugene watching Abraham and Rosita. What a fucking creeper.
Also, that must be the most well built and reliable fire truck ever made! After multiple years of just sitting there, through freezing weather, etc. not only is the battery still good enough to crank the engine, but the fuel tank still has fuel in it and the water cannon is fully pressurized and ready to go! All they had to do was hit the starter button. 11/10/2014 9:53:59 AM |

I think you under-estimate the timeline here, that was probably only a month or so after this thing all went to shit, so they probably weren't use to seeing him kill humans(just walkers). He also beat what appeared to be 4 men to death. The comic goes into more detail but thought they explained enough last night in the flashback.

Believe the official timeline puts them at getting close to about a year and a half since the outbreak started, plus not a ton of freezing weather in Atlanta most years. The fire truck likely would have taken much more work and the hose probably wouldn't have worked, but the show would be really slow if they had to spend days working on repairing cars to make any real progress in travel.11/10/2014 10:16:19 AM |

How do we know the truck had been sitting there since the very beginning? 11/10/2014 10:35:50 AM |

^It doesn't necessarily have to have been there for years though, most vehicle batteries would have died after like 2 months of not being recharged by a running engine. I understand that it would slow the show down but once they got the firetruck running they only used it for like 10 seconds anyway. Regardless, that much suspension of disbelief kind of removes me from the immersion of the show. I feel like if that's the case, they could have just cranked the engine on any of the cars they found along the way.

How long does it take walkers to die of starvation, or do they even die of starvation? Those walkers in the firehouse for example, could have been in there for like 18 months. Doing what, just bumping into each other and moaning? 11/10/2014 12:09:05 PM |
Bullet All American 28417 Posts user info edit post |
Wasn't the fire truck backed up to the fire station door holding in the walkers? And they came out after the truck was moved? SO the truck may have been put there recently? And it's obvioulsy been driven since the outbreak, because there was blood and guts all over it.
Also, to the question about why there were only 3 patients in the hospital, it showed at least one other young girl in a room that quickly closed the door when Beth saw her. I imagine there's supposed to be more that we just haven't seen.
^If it's like the Romero zombies, they don't actually need to eat, they just do it on impulse. they continue to "live" until their bodies waste and rot away.

I know this is TV and they gotta try and make things more exciting sometimes, but the people in this show do what seems to me to be an inordinate amount of unnecessary touching of zombies while they are fighting them. If I were in that situation I would be keeping my hands as far away from their mouths as possible unless absolutely necessary. They're all grabbing their throats and shit before stabbing them in the head 11/10/2014 2:02:50 PM |

Seriously. We're arguing about whether or not a firetruck's battery would be dead or not, meanwhile the bus they were all riding in flipped over when they were going 40+mph, with nobody wearing seat belts...and not a single one of them was injured....yeah, THAT'S believable

Meh, this season is shaping up how I thought it would once they split the group up. Not a huge fan of the pacing after the first couple of episodes. Two more episodes to waste time until they get the group back together and on the road North.
Feels like this whole Beth/hospital storyline is just filler to drag the story out. 11/17/2014 8:14:55 AM |

This entire episode could have been taken place within the first 10 minutes. Easily the least exciting episode of the season, even with two characters i genuinely enjoy watching. and yeah, the van landing was silly. 11/17/2014 8:25:32 AM |

I've had a hood fly up on me at 75 mph in the rain and dark and didn't crash. I've had a rear tire blow out on me at 70 mph, in the dark, and didn't crash. I feel like the natural response to an engine blowing out is to apply the brakes, but that's just me

Maybe it is, we'll see, but it seems like a shame, with so much potential in their universe to explore, they need these filler plotlines. I'd think the show has enough of a budget to do more interesting things.
They should be looking at a serious "end game" IMO too, since we know the zombies would eventually run out in the real world™.11/17/2014 10:16:58 AM |

There's a scene where a zombie tries to cross a river and gets washed away.
It's taken them a year to go a few miles in Georgia, it'd take decades to get to San Francisco or Cuba. 11/17/2014 2:21:56 PM |

not if they get a sailboat to Guantanamo at least but yeah San Fran would take a while. I guess you'd also have to find somebody who knew how to sail and navigate plus food for the journey. 11/17/2014 2:35:04 PM |

Houseboat on a big lake with floatilla of jet skis and smaller boats for making runs. Fishing (of course) + tons of homes to raid. Beats the hell out of camping in the woods with string and aluminum cans surrounding you. Would make for shitty TV show though. 11/17/2014 3:22:34 PM |

I thought the chopper belonged to that small contingent of soldiers that the Governer & Co. Massacred in season 3? The chopper crashed then they took the pilot into Woodbury and found out where the rest of the soldiers were then killed him. I remember the Governer rode up in a car waving a white flag, got them to put their weapons down and then the rest of his crew shot them from the woodline. I thought that chopper was supposed to be the same one that Rick saw in the city in S1. 11/18/2014 3:28:24 PM |

Only thing I felt it revealed in that episode was that Carol actually was in the hospital because she was legit hurt, where as I presumed she was faking it to infiltrate the hospital. 11/18/2014 6:33:00 PM |

So there have to be big reveals of information to you to make a show good? Sometimes shows are just about the process and storytelling.
I enjoy seeing the visual story being told about the world around them as much as I'm interested in what they're going to do about Beth. In fact that's one reason I love post apocalyptic shows and movies, just to see their interpretations and visions about what would happen in that world. 11/19/2014 9:30:05 AM |

I'm sorry, but to get hit by a car...that's just bullshit. There's ONE car making noise as it drives between buildings, in an entire city that is deathly quiet. There's no way in hell that Carol wouldn't hear that car coming from 1/4 mile away in an urban environment like that. 11/19/2014 1:13:46 PM |
