I'm gonna make my blanket statement in here about Lent, cause I almost got sucked up into one Lent thread and since there are so many other Lent threads it's annoying me...but I'm gonna stay out of them...I'm just gonna post one statment in here...

I think Lent is something that is personal. If you are doing it for the right reasons it's not something that you go around bragging about. Jesus didn't want you to brag about your faith and show off to anyone. He wanted to you spread the word, but not yell at the top of your lungs telling everyone how great of a Christian you are. He told us to pray behind close doors not out on the street where everyone can see us.

I have been guilty of letting everyone know what I gave up for Lent, and making sure everyone knew I was giving up something for Lent in the past, I admit it...but as I've grown in my faith I have found that it's not about what other people think, it's about what you think and your own personal relationship with God.
While talking with someone about your struggles and getting support from someone while you are resisting the temptations is helpful and a great thing to do, going around saying "it's been a week and I am still ______ free" is putting more of the spot light on you and not on the true reason you participate in Lent.


And that's all I have to say about that...

But my thing with that is with his Bible he was kinda just deciding what he wanted to be the rules of the game...I mean that's all good and everything, I think everyone should be able to come away with their own impression of what the Bible is saying, but I think doing a cut and paste job on the Bible is just like when you quote someone and cut out parts of the quote to make it sound like you want it to...

Like saying someone reviewed a movie saying "I've never seen anything like it before"

and the real quote was "The movie had horrible acting, horrible directing, I've never seen anything like it before that could actually make it to the big screen"
