(in reference to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw )

^9x that head display is sweet

it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to make a 1player game, sell some cheezy IR glasses like he put together, and have a game like that at all

It just reminds me of those arcade games like the "police 911" or the boxing game that you actually have to move your body to play

but yeah, no way to do that multiplayer, unless it's like split screen and two remotes are aimed at different people

Just rented Boom Blox this weekend, wife loved it, I love it, it's a very fun simple game

even though, somehow her shots are about 10x stronger than mine.....I don't think the wii can read "speed of light", so my throws just kinda dribble on the screen

and by the way, when did people stop renting games? I went in to a blockbuster, and there were at least 20 copies of GTA4, 10 copies of rainbox six 2, and pretty much any other game you could want was in there...i was surprised

the internet has videos / reviews / screenshots and provides a much easier way to communicate about a game before you buy it that more people make up their mind before renting becomes a thought nowadays

You can rent a game for a few days for 8 bucks...

or...

you can buy it new, play it for a few months, and sell it online for about a 8-10 buck loss.

yeah, renting a Wii game is ridiculously expensive.
plus there aren't that many games that are good to rent

yeah, true

I am curious why it's still $8 to rent a game

but now that I'm getting revved up with Goozex, I doubt I'll be renting anymore, and just trading as I'm done, lol

^it depends if you updated it with the latest system update. If so, it's not worth NEAR as much. I still enjoy my Wiikey.

Mega Man 9 coming to WiiWare

http://gonintendo.com/?p=47632#comment-1996883

Quote :
"CONFIRMED - Mega Man 9 heading to WiiWare…and it looks EXACTLY like an NES game
UPDATE - It’s the real deal! I just got confirmation via my email. Thanks to everyone that tipped me off! I can’t believe how awesome this is. The game is in the exact same style as the original NES games. In my opinion, this game announcement is absolutely huge news. A big thank-you to all that sent this in.

One screen from Nintendo Power…just to confirm

Robot Masters

Magma Man
Galaxy Man
Jewel Man
Concrete Man
Hornet Man
Plug Man
Tornado Man
Splash Woman

- Dr. Wily returns
- Story: Dr. Wily blames Dr. Light for robot master attacks
- various level hazards: lava, gravity-defying magnetic platforms, Mega Man clones
- attacks gained from Robot Masters: Galaxy Man’s Black Hole Bombs
- development handled by Inti Creates (Mega Man Zero, ZX, Battle Chip Challenge)
- controls: Wiimote NES style, just as you would expect it to be
- Rush returns
- 8-bit style was chosen to ‘please fans’
- 8-bit music
- 8-bit cut-scenes
- difficultly on-par with NES games
- return of classic enemies, as well as new ones
- Will Protoman be playable? “you’ll have to wait and see.”
- hopes in surpassing the quality of Mega Man 2"

I would've preferred a game with new high-res sprites, but this still sounds cool.

It's a fun party game for non-gamers

the wife really liked it, so I wanted to pick it up

it's basically reverse jenga. Stacks of blocks, and you have to knock them down

it sounds very simple, but there are tons of different little versions in there to play

I just don't know about $50, it feels like it should be $30 to me

Anyone else excited about E3?

I heard Nintendo was going to announce a new Zelda game in development for Wii. That's enough news for me right there.

We want to get my Dad set up with a Wii as a birthday present. What all should we get other than the console? Any specific games? How many controllers? It'll mostly be him and my Mom playing.

Adults love Wii Sports (which comes with the game)

I would say that alone is probably enough. If you want to drop a little more change, look for the WiiFit.

Those two games are probably plenty for older non-gamers to be happy. I can't tell you how many times people will hear I've got a Wii, and say "oh do you have tennis?? ... what about bowling?? ... and golf??" All three on Wii Sports.

they are totally ripping off Wii with their new "channel interface" and "avatars" which are a ripoff of the Mii system.

well yeah

and especially since it's rumored they are having a "motion controller"

sound familiar?

Nintendo is the only one that wants to be innovative

All of the others either play catch up, or just go for better graphics and that's it

^ I concur.

Also Geometry Wars is a good way to spend $20 for the Wii. Its pretty simple yet intense arcade shooter if you are into that type of thing. Beating high scores is pretty much all there is, but is has its subtleties.

I love Boom Blox (so does MY wife, which is extremely odd for her to enjoy a video game, haha)

I would love it a lot more if it wasn't $50 though

So i'm hoping to either get it through Goozex or get lucky and find it used somewhere for ~$20, but that'll be a while probably

If my wife likes a game, I have GOT to throw gasoline all over that fire. I'm learning that she's slowly becoming more interested in games - it's all about finding the ones she likes. Ones which we can play together or with friends are must-haves. She also really likes puzzle games and music games.

As for Boom Blox... chiggity-chaa-chaa, chiggity-chaa-chaa, chiggity-chaa-chaa...

I've tried getting her into rock band/guitar hero/ddr, and she likes them ok, but i think she just either gets bored or frustrated

her problem with rock band was that she only knew about 3 of the songs
