Niles Clark was recruited by Jon Tenuta. I guess that dispels the myth that Tenuta can't recruit.

Clark tried to commit a few days ago but didn't have an official offer yet. I imagine after getting word that he wanted to come the staff did their homework to make sure he was a guy they could take this early. I like how that was handled

Plus when you add the 2 early commits to the good early feelers we've gotten back (last year the early feelers were poor and it showed with how long it took us to get rolling) I think TOB should get a great class in 2012

ive followed recruiting for quite awhile now and i don't ever recall getting junior commitments (i.e. verbals of a rising senior before the signing day of the current senior crop)

It's not something that's happens often, but it's not uncommon either. It also usually happens with local kids and local programs. Some kids don't have the desire to go through the whole recruiting process and have been a big fan of local teams for their whole lives.

One of the early '12 commits is from Georgia (Niles Clark). The other is from Nash County (Josh Sessoms).

He made it clear that he was referring specifically to NCSU recruiting, in which case he is right. We have not seen a junior commit before the senior's signing day, at least in the last six or seven classes. (Obviously excluding military academy commits because of academics)

^ Conflicting reports of whether or not Mann got an offer. However, he didn't go visit them this past weekend and told Steve Williams at PP that he was solid (after the offer in question). Either way, he's project to sign with State on Wednesday.

Hopefully not. Only potential ones I can think of is Chris Jones going to Illinois (he visited them last weekend) or Michael Peek committing to us (committed to Navy currently). Maybe Cedrick Cooper but wouldn't count on it.

Definitely hope we don't have any decommits, only one that even seems a possibility is Dave Mann, but it hasn't been determined if the GTech offer is legit.

Also, sounds like we're making a push for Tre Jackson (former GTech commit). Steve or James started a thread but it got deleted pretty quickly, not sure why. I tried to click on it but it re-routed me to the board because it was gone.

I think FSU is offering him a gray-shirt but he doesn't necessarily want to do that. May take an OV after signing day to NC State.

I didn't know where else to put this, so I'm posting here.

I just checked on the Senior Bowl results b/c Irving was out only guy there. For some fucked up reason, NC State is in the South, but UNC is in the North. That makes zero sense.

Some guy on PP said that it is looking like Shaun Underwood will de-commit from UNC and sign with us tomorrow. Sounded fishy, especially since the guy only had one post, but another poster who is a regular who claims to live in FV said he's been hearing the same thing. Just a heads up in case some signing day drama actually does go down.
