justin, is it common to sit that short in a razz game?

nice analysis btw, thats a game that i wish i knew more.

a few interesting hands from last night.

heres the first:

my 2nd hand that i sat down to. i had waited for my bb, since i sat down utg +1, while i was stacking up my chips. 10/20 lhe at borgata. only 2 regulars at the table, which was a nice thing.

anyways, my bb hand was an uneventfull winner, which as many of you that know me know, is one of my biggest quirky pet peeves.

Then it happened. one of those only in live limit holdem pots that is just enormous.

in the SB with AsKs.

5 limpers to me, i raise. bb calls, whole table calls, button 3-bets. i just call, as does the rest of the table. this is going to be a good one.

7 way action for 3 bets each, 21 sb in the pot for $210.

flop: Qs Ts 3h

oO

i bet out. bb calls. utg (tighter older regular) raises. call. call. button calls. i 3 bet. bb CC the two bets. utg caps. call, call, button calls, i call, bb calls.

lordy. 6 ways to the turn with 4 bets each on the flop, 3 pre. 45 sb, or now 22.5BB ($450)

turn: 6s

hottt

i check, bb checks, utg bets, guy next to him raises, call, fold, button RR! i cap it, bb folds, utg calls, guy calls, one fold, button calls.

going 4 way to the river, with 10 bb on the street, for a total of 32.5 BB ($650)

river a 6h

i check, utg bets, guy RR, button calls, i make a call and almost throw up, utg just calls.

showdown for 40.5 BB ($810)

I table the AsKs, and ask who has a boat?
utg+1 shows JsXs
button shows QTo
utg shows 33, very slowly, almost surprised he won the pot.

balls, so mean. ahah

its fun to see the dealer need a backhoe for all the chips that are going to the wrong guy. ahah

[Edited on July 13, 2006 at 8:53 AM. Reason : e]

dont think im posting this due to the fact that i lost, its due to the sheer size of the pot and the pure shitstorm of hands aligning at the same time. its not everyday you see a 40+ BB pot in limit holdem.

you need a certain # of FPP's and status to set up those tourneys. ben had it, but i dont think he does anymore.

^^ ben- too bad on that hand.

i just emailed full tilt to see if we can set them up on there. i know alot of people here play primarily on stars and FT.

ok...i just got done emailing full tilt and we can do it through them. i dont mind setting up the events.

ben- can you run the spreadsheet and keep scores for everyone?

the good thing about playing on FT is that we can play razz, stud, PLO, PLO8, etc...

i was going to get a feel for what everyone wanted. i was going to wait 3-4 weeks before the first event because full tilt wants me to set them all up in advance.

what nights are good for everyone?

i was thinking sunday or monday....

im the same with ^

it depends

you are better off just choosing the days and if people can play they can play

mondays and sundays would be bad when football starts

how about tuesdays then? around 8pm?

ill make a schedule next week with the dates and orders of the game, but i will be sure to get every game in the mix: NLHE, 7cs, PLO8, & razz, and one HORSE tourney.

im thinking 6 events, top 5 scores count, which will give everyone the option to miss one event.

please feel free to throw in suggestions.

play along time.

10/20 borgata. running bad, getting close to running into patented pilgrim monkey tilt (which usually only entails lots of ridiculous riases and trying to push everyone around).

BB with 7h7c.

utg folds.
utg+1 raises. pretty tight guy, the 33 guy from the other hand.
call. wide open loooooooooooose passive guy, he's on mega spew tilt mode. his cc could mean anything from 22 to JJ to K4ss.
fold
fold
call. interesting guy who i could not figure out if he was pretty decent, ok, or just playing lucky. had bought into a 10/20 game with 2 racks of redbirds, and 3 stacks of greens, which may be a bit of overkill. 125 big bets is quite stack. (ill do this in a 2/4 game if im just messing around, some of you have heard stories of attempting to purchase $1k in white chips for castle building and generally annoying the hell out of the other people at the table, usually happens when im drunk and looking to gamb00000l while having some fun) this guy however, was dead serious, drinking a coffee drink and paying a good bit of attention to the game. maybe he thought it was intimidating, im not sure.
raise on thebutton. this lady who was the prime reason that ive been getting tilted. shes destroying me in every pot we are in, no matter what i have, shes rivering the hell out of me. i alone have lost over 15 bets to her in 2 orbits. (story of one of the hands to come later) shes been doing things like open raising utg with JTo only to flop a straight. things like that.
SB folds.

as the BB we do what?

(thinking about it, this hand may be a bit boring, but its one that i feel i played horribly. however, i think my opponents played it worse.)

I guess it kinda is, I only do it because everyone else does. At first I'd buy in for 20 BBs but then when I started having a good session I'd always get the table covered by a lot. I dunno, I just didn't like that kind of image in this game where many players don't know what they're doing. It is pretty rare that pots cap on later streets in razz, so I've never been punished by starting hands with 10BBs or a little less.

And if we do another TWWSOP thing I think we should make some sort of pool. I think that's the reason the last one failed(that and the creator losing interest ). Just something like $10 a peice to the winner would make people take it much more seriously. It needs to be a thing that you make time every week to attend, not just something to do if nothing else is going on that night. I could hold the money till the end.. I have accounts on every major poker site, neteller, paypal, I live close to campus.. whatever, we could make it work.

And yeah, Full Tilt would be great for this. HORSE tournaments are a lot of fun.

Well that is why the last one failed, nobody gave a shit. If we had 10 committed players and a $100 pool for the winner, that would be better than starting off strong with 15 players(I think that's about what we had at the first even last year) then having it drop off for the next few events.

I mean, shit happens. If you have to miss an event for something unexpected, there would be another clause in the scoring system where only the top 5 scores out of 8 events are counted or something.

The pool sounds like a good idea.

Im thinking of doing 6 events and doing this a few times a year.

How does this sound

NLHE
PLO
HORSE
PLO
NLHE

5 events...4 scores count...we can keep it short to have everyones interest the whole time. thought please.

^^I guess b/c you're only investing 370 at stars and 535 at FT for a ~12k prize, and it doesn't matter if you get 1st or 200th.

Some people probably feel that it's easier to make hit a big payday in these tournaments as a good player than it is in a normal tournament where the prizepool is so top heavy.

That is what I gather anyhow, I never play these things.
