Will the wireless cards in the PS3 Pick up a N signal from a Router or will they just pick up the G signal. I bout the PS3 in 2008.

I was going buy a blue ray player with netflix streaming for my bedroom, but then figured it wouldn't be much more (if at all) to just get a ps3 (especially considering how much it costs to get wireless on a blue-ray player)

Which one of these should I buy? They all play blue-rays and stream over wi-fi right...no matter how old?

if you care about space/appearance/size then get a newer slim model.

if you don't care and don't play games get the cheapest.

if you want one that will hold it's resell value the most get a 60GB Backwards Compatible version.

just keep an eye out on slickdeals or amazon. but really, you won't find too many "deals" in the store as pricing is pretty strict. you could also get on craigslist as the user above did.

basically you can rip your games onto another blu-ray, and then never have to use your actual game disk.

That's what the websites will claim.

Mostly it's so you can download games from the internet, burn them onto a blu-ray, and play games you haven't paid for.

Just be wary of the original models with 20GB Hard Drives as they are not equipped with Wi-Fi. It is the ONLY model that is not, and there are not too many of them out there but just stay clear of that one.

I would honestly suggest the cheapest one you can find that is in like new condition, and never having been refurbished.

The Move is pretty damn awesome, super accurate, impressive tech. I got Sports Champions to try it out with, and the table tennis in particular is insanely accurate. With the camera tracking you, you have to position yourself (rather than auto-positioning like in Wii sports resort) to hit the ball, including stepping in to defend drop shots and stepping back to return long shots.

basically, it's what we all imagined the Wii would be when it was announced.

Anybody having any trouble after the 3.5 update? I've read that it has disabled most 3rd party controllers and other usb things. My buddy is telling me that his can play games and dvds but not blu-ray movies anymore. I know that the games are blu-ray discs but that doesn't make any sense to me why games will work and movies won't. Mine updated fine and i'm watching se7en on blu-ray right now.

Played a DVD and 6 hours of Heavy Rain yesterday so I'm not seeing any problems. I'll try a blu-ray later and see.

On a related note, Heavy Rain was fucking awesome. If you own a PS3 and haven't tried it, you're missing out. It was absolutely unlike any game I've played before and I couldn't put it down last night.

so.. ps3 jailbreak has lead to an snes emu and supposedly you can run patched psp-isos. you can also enable remote play on and ps3 game. I am yet to plug my ps3 into the network since 3.41 and mention of this exploit.

Has PSN been incredibly slow for anyone else for the last 1-2 months. I have to disable internet just to play blu-rays because it can't even connect to download the data for them. It routinely takes 2 minutes or so to load up the friends list, and clicking on something in psn store is a good minute until it loads. Pretty sure it's not my internet because nothing else in my house is that slow.

red lights of DOOM. Just froze up during NHL11 last night, and I tried taking the hdd out and cleaning that, but no success. It was the original 60GB model, so, I guess I got a good while out of it. And I bought a new one. "repair" from sony is like $150 and takes 4-5 weeks. FUCK THAT.

^You could probably sell that one on craigslist/ebay to someone for a decent amount. A lot of people want the backwards compatibility from it.
